Isn’t’ this position traditionally promoted from within? I know that it doesn’t have to be, but I thought that is very nearly always is someone already inside the Secret Service who rises to the top because of their very unique mission.
Working under the assumption that Trump will do the worst possible thing, my money’s on his personal bodyguard/head of security being named to the post. The guy who interfered with SS agents at that campaign event.
