Discussion: Second Pennsylvania Justice Resigns Over Porn Email Scandal

What part of “You do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy” didn’t you grasp?

His resignation leaves the seven-member Supreme Court with five Democrats, one Republican and one vacancy. A replacement would be nominated by Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf and require two-thirds confirmation by the Republican-controlled Senate.

The (D) un-gerrymandering of PA’s judiciary.
Any which way you can.

…which proves you’re smarter than the average ® Justice. You could probably make a lot of $$$$$ with ‘how-to-cover-my-porn-trail’. …More $$$$ with white-mail .

PA has had justices in prison. The good news is they are not lifetime appointments.

That was what I was gonna comment on. Are they giving his client the needle? Or is he just losing his job? Because at most places I’ve worked, you are probably gonna lose your job if you send emails like that.

So fuck his lawyer with a chainsaw.

No, people who are caught red handed like this just don’t have much else to say. A professor of science at (I think) UC Berkeley was recently handed his hat after being found to have harassed various female graduate students and his wife basically said something like, what he did wasn’t that bad. But what else can someone like this say? “I’m a narcissistic asshole who glories in using power to make people uncomfortable and unhappy and to get some nookie when I can, however unwillingly supplied?”

She fought back at great cost to herself. Hopefully in the end she will be vindicated and the bigots and misogynysts will be gone from the court and she will get back her license to practice law and have a brighter future than she would have if she had merely been indifferent to the injustice.

…and face the death penalty," Costopoulos said.

Really?

He is facing the death penalty?

The hyperbole and dumb-fuckery on display here with this guy is amazing.

I had a great time in Penn visiting family, but it sure seemed socially conservative… that should have told me the corsets and riding crops were hiding just under the judicial robes.

What old boys’ network?? I don’t see any old boys’ network around here. Do you, boys??

Seriously, that Eakins sounds like the last person I’d want sitting in judgment of me or mine. He may be better in the ratiocination department than he is in the nice decent human being department, of course, but even that is in doubt given the pathetic excuse he gave for his actions. PA can do better, I’m quite sure.

Again, this is why calls for the resignation of K Kane, even by Democratic Gov Wolf, are notably premature.

She released some compromising emails by the judges during a Sanduski child molester investigation. The emails, of course, were on a state gov system. Anyone who has held a job in the real world knows (a) you don’t do this on company servers, and can fired for such an offense, and (b) you are an idiot even if you do it on ‘personal’ servers, for all email can be accessed, especially if you are in a government position (reference: recent US Sec of States). [there is also the ethical © don’t do this if you are a state Supreme Court Justice, because WTF?, you should know better]

I still reserve judgement until K Kane’s trial in August, in the very Republican Montgomery County, where the GJ served the indictment. It should be some fireworks.

He is waaay delusional. GOP/TPers are never unemployed for very long, and oftentimes, their supporters and a willing media help them rehabilitate their poor records. Just look at Newt Gingrich who is now considered a “smart” republican leader. Dude cheated on his wife with Callista while he was in the process of beginning impeachment proceedings against Pres. Clinton. These people have no shame. They’ll vilify democrats for any alleged wrong-doing, but they do things that are worse, and they then have the nerve to declare themselves victims of the MSM. Eakins seems to think he could have gotten away with the odious things he did, if it hadn’t been for the media reporting on what Ms. Kane uncovered.

Didn’t someone once say that Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with West Virginia in between them?

Thank you.

@LosAmigos: I agree it does look like the PA judges were breaking the law. The ferocity of the attacks against Attorney General Katherine Kane and the trickle of resignation suggest that some very damning is lurking under those robes.

Doesn’t your comment make you 100 times more obnoxious and tone deaf than him?

I hereby submit my resignation from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
