Discussion: Second Pennsylvania Justice Resigns Over Porn Email Scandal

Discussion for article #247403

It is great to see the Democratic Attorney General Katherine Kane fight back.

I wish that nationally the Democrats would brook less nonsense from the Kochhead, bigot and jesus-American infested swamp of santorum that is the Republican party.

The Pennsylvania judicial system is corrupt. Just some time ago, judges were taking kickbacks from prison companies and sentencing children to prison.

Eakin’s lawyer, Bill Costopoulos, said at a news conference Tuesday that an ethics trial on charges related to the emails, which had been scheduled to start in two weeks, would not proceed.

“This is the only process I know of in America where you can be charged with sending emails to friends that were inappropriate and face the death penalty,” Costopoulos said.

“…and face the death penalty” ???

Yeah, what the hell is he talking about? Anyone know?

This story raises so many questions. Were her charges legit? (I didn’t follow this story initially.) What level of private conduct amounts to a violation of judicial code of conduct? (I guess he was sending this stuff to public employee email addresses?) Why was he allowed to rule on her ethics/suspension proceeding? (seems like a huge conflict of interest, unless this didn’t come out til after, but even so, does she get a rehearing?) One month suspension for perjury and leaking confidential information? (How so little punishment?)

I should care about this more, but an orange skinned maniacal fascist is about to gain the nomination of one of the most powerful organizations in the world.

Here is is 2016 and the upper levels of so many organizations are full of men who Just Don’t Get It. And then whine all over the place like toddlers when they’re caught.

Also: creating a pseudonymous email account specifically for smutty and bigoted content pretty much screams “I know this violates the rules of my job.”

Resignation is the new execution.

"Perhaps my demeanor is one of the boys," Eakin said on the stand. "But what I sent was to people who were also one of the boys. It was in the locker room.

So the time spent in chambers … supposedly working at the computer on State business…

He is mentally prancing around “snapping towels” with the boys ---- Or roasting weenies 'round the campfire — WTF ? ? … Somebody must have slipped something in the water over there —

The case against Katherine Kane does not pass the smell test. It reeks of political vendetta by powerful moneyed interests.

Now that SCROTUM Justice Clarence Thomas has broken his silence, perhaps he can offer an opinion on the appropriateness of judges and porn…

Yes, we’re soooo proud of the judiciary here in PA. Just within the past decade:

  • Kids for Cash scandal where judges Ciavarella and Conahan sentenced kids to the private juvie facility for minor infractions (or to just teach a lesson!) in exchange for millions

  • former Attorney General turned governor Tom Corbett turned a blind eye to the Sandusky kiddie diddling at Penn State

  • our state Attorney General - Kane - lost her license

…and these are just the ones that come to mind.

I still hope she’s able to get the last laugh out of all this. She risked and may have sacrificed her entire career to go after these hypocrites and expose them for the corrupt assholes they are.

This is why embattled state Attorney General Kathleen Kane is embattled. She is being railroaded. Despite the fact that PA has a Dem gov and is a blue state in general elections, the fact is that there are a lot of hard-right nutjobs here, plenty of hardcore racists and overall hateful, bad people - who are also dumb as a rock and willing to go along with whatever comes out of the Republican legislature.

PA Repubs are playing from the same deck as Conservatives at the federal level - whatever Governor Wolf is for, they’re against it. The state has a $2B structural deficit, they will not let him address it.

They’re doing to Kane the same thing they did to Bill Clinton - grasping at whatever horseshit they can to damage her. The leak/perjury charges are a result of her going after the sick good-ole-boy network.

@SRfromGR: My thoughts exactly. She seems to be determined, gritty and tough as nails.

He used a “vulgar term for breasts”? Whatever could that have been?

“There are “jokes” about rape and sexual assault, photos mocking African Americans and other minorities, and insults leveled at people because of their weight, their sexual orientation or their religion.”

These are the people who are responsible for passing judgement on you and I. If you are a member of one or the groups; which includes more than half of the population, do you want them standing in judgement of you or your loved ones.

Government employment at any level is a privilege. There’s an expectation of conduct, and an expectation of a level of scrutiny, and if you take the job you sign up for both.

There is nothing funny about defaming and/or degrading another person.

One of the signs of a Narcissist is that when bad things happen to other people, they are trivial (“so what you lost your job, you must not have wanted it that bad.”) but when things happen to THEM it’s Always the APOCALYPSE! (Oh My GOD! I got a PARKING TICKET!!! The Government is After Me!")
