Don’t forget the idiot Naderites who saw no difference between Gore and Bush. Thankfully, the contrasts are so dramatic regardless of who gets the nomination for either party, that only a complete dolt would not vote for Clinton. Further, unlike Nader, I’m sure Sanders will ask his people to fall in line and continue to work toward a more progressive Dem platform. The success of a progressive agenda is dependent more on Congress than the eventual Dem nominee.
To me, everything starts from there – having Ds in office would give us space to actually talk about and work on issues we care about. So electing someone specific is not in itself the goal, but the start for what comes after that. And because I care what comes after that and am ready to work for it, I just don’t get the if-not-someone-specific-then-vote-for-Trump-or-sit-out sentiment. I really don’t. Because in that case instead of working on issues we care about we would just be seeing years of slow yet steady progress reversed overnight.
I see it that way.
Single-payer is a nonstarter.
The real message here is the important one. In November you need to work for and vote for the nominee of the Democratic Party.
To say that if your candidate is not indorse do you will not vote is the same as saying that if I don’t get my way I will support Trump.
The effect of people on the left staying home in November is to support Trump or Cruz which may be vent be worse, if that is possible.
“Middle ground gradualist approach as Obama…” For Pete’s sake, what do you want: gun battles between revolutionaries and congressional representatives?
Obama made enormous strides against the prevailing Reaganite ideology that coated our whole nation–and I see him as a true revolutionary --one who never had to fire a shot, shout or even waggle his fingers. He is not a preacher, but a doer. And that is also what I see in Hillary–a doer. For Sanders people to just accept unquestioningly that she is less than liberal is truly absurd, but of course their leader says the same about Obama…
This is a very oddball thing to do, and I’m not at all sure I see the point of it…
It’s a Seattle thing.
Classic lazy Democrat.
Which Obama is more than happy and willing to do. A little fact most of the “Hillary’s a warhawk!” criers like to forget.
And that’s my city…The young millennials flooding into the city lack a certain sense of humor and think the boomers are too old for WORDS. We try to remind them ‘gently’ that we still have a ‘place’ here and when all is said and done we will vote Democratic no matter who comes out ahead in the caucus.
Nicely trolled, Stranger.
So Nader supporters were idiots, and folks who don’t vote for Clinton are complete dolts? Do I have that right?
Why do you feel the need to insult others who don’t share your views or preferences?
Wait, so the magazine is named after what it’s called when you sit on your hand to make it go numb and then use it to jerk off? Haha…
He has already said that he would support Hillary if she gets the nomination. Whether that actually means that he’ll actively campaign for her, I don’t know. But he strikes me as an honorable man, and he doesn’t want the Democrats to fail.
Yep. Nader is an egotistical one-note symphony that helped elect Bush.
So, like the idiot Naderites, if you won’t support Clinton if she’s the nominated you will be no better than people voting for Cruz or Trump. If you have a problem understanding this, then you’re too dumb for the process to begin with.
Look. Sanders push all the right buttons for me, but if he is nominated and elected he will have zero support in Congress, as there will not likely be a sea change there, for even the most commonsensical proposals. A Sanders presidency will make 2013 look like an activist period of legislating.
Clinton, and this is all she can be counted on for anyway, will, like Obama, be able to get things done at the margin.
No matter how much you stroke your luck Che Guevara poster, there will be no revolution by electing Sanders.
Awww, that’s so cute! An orangutan* in a suit!
*orangutan = orange mop + spraytan
Asking and getting are two different things. He will not get all he wants. If he is able to get some sort of general accommodation on some of his things, he should be reasonable, and I say “reasonable” because if his ass is NOT in the enthusiastic camp for Hillary, he will bear a great deal of responsibility for President Trump/Cruz.
In terms of the country. In terms of History.
[He has already said that he would support Hillary if she gets the nomination. Whether that actually means that he’ll actively campaign for her, I don’t know. But he strikes me as an honorable man, and he doesn’t want the Democrats to fail.]
That is my feeling as well.
Because the alternative is not good for ANYBODY. Period. You seem to imply that voting FOR Clinton is reprehensible so…the POINT of all this is to VOTE.
I can totally relate, ealleniii. The only candidate that would bring me enthusiasm is Liz Warren. So, I’m kind of left with plain, dry pasta on my plate. I suppose when push comes to shove, I’ll vote for Sanders in the primary, but eh. Just let a democrat be elected this year. Or, anyone but Trump, Cruz or Kasich. That’s my mantra this year…take your pick.
