Discussion for article #238160
It really bugged them that someone other than the Koch brothers could see what they were doing.
Republican Governors in the 2010’s: Let’s see how much nonsense we can get away with and still get re-elected.
Yup. Shine a light on 'em and they scatter like cockroaches.
Little bit of a brush-back pitch there, huh Scotty? You got no idea of the disintegration you face when Hillary’s streetfighters get to work on you. Simply no idea.
Translation: We’ll get around to passing this in a month or two when no one’s looking.
…protect constituents privacy…
Yeh… riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
We are steadfastly committed to open and accountable government
Other than trying to destroy it when no one was looking. And you can bet they will try again.
The intended policy goal of these changes was to provide a reasonable solution to protect constituents’ privacy and to encourage a deliberative process between elected officials and their staff in developing policy.
Bwahaha
Pull the other one, has bells on it.
Not that I don’t hope she really has some—Lord knows the Democrats are in sore need of getting out of their habitual defensive crouch—but what evidence do you have that shows HRC has any “streetfighters?”
These buffoons remind me of Scooby Do villains - “we would have got away with it if weren’t for you pesky kids!”
"The changes would have affected the types of documents tracking a bill’s legislative history that have been particularly useful for journalists and activists in the state. "
Sunlight, disinfectant…meet festering pustule.
My God, how many proof positive indications do we need to conclude that Walker is a completely corrupt asshole?? How many??
Still the creepiest governor and candidate of them all…always at the edge of lawful behavior.
This is the kind of shit that all these midwestern governors have recently tried to pull.
They’ve all tinkered with the idea of changing open records laws in the last year or two while in office. Gee, its almost like ALEC has a plan for them that they’d like to see implemented. As soon as the klieg lights have shown how these lawmakers and Republican governors plan to hide their deliberations over the laws they’ve passed, they pretend they were never trying to impede the public from finding out. But the reality is, they’ve been on this mission to deny FOIA requests, or at best slow-walk them for some time. You can see the difficulty when someone requests to see information on sensitive land grabs and corporate tax abatements, along with who’s contributing to energy policy discussions that result in bad law, and environmental compliance standards being willfully ignored. Actually, the list of ways to corrupt without sunshine and open records, is endless.
From a purely partisan perspective, I’m disappointed Walker’s cheesecurd brownshirts withdrew the bill.
We’ll know when the KochBoys put their money on different Republican asshole…
I don’t know, I think Paul LePage would give him a run in the creepy department,
There was a real grassroots groundswell over the weekend. With it being a holiday, it may have been inadequate but kept up the pressure. The key now is to keep up the pressure to expose the conspirators. Walker is a dangerous guy.
Oh, indeed. Vigilance, Wisconsinites. Vigilance!
