I think most people in Wisconsin understands our economy isn’t doing well. The debate is over who/what is to blame: Walker, Republicans in the state legislature, Obama, terrorists, gays, immigrants, teachers, the former Democratic governor, the weather, Milwaukee’s ‘inner city’…
“It’s either gonna be Hillary Clinton or it’s gonna be Donald Trump and we have to decide who we want it to be.”
He went on to say, “If it’s Clinton, we’ll be spending the next eight years obstructing everything while we conduct endless investigations into all the scandals we’ll create out of thin air. And, really, I’m not sure we can get away with the current level of douchebaggery for much longer. Safer to vote for the racist, misogynist, lying con man with the R after his name. He’s one of us.”
Interestingly, Walker’s lieutenant governor, Rebecca Kleefish, has announced that she is NOT attending the convention—even though my understanding is that she is a delegate.
Well, now, at least we can assume Walker will use his greatest public speaking asset: The ability to look at the crowd with one eye while simultaneously looking at the teleprompter with the other.
“From the delegates I’ve talked to here in Wisconsin, as well as those across the country, as much as there have been legitimate issues raised and concerns — the bottom line is most delegates are headed down the path that I am, which is that it’s a clear contrast,” he said. “It’s either gonna be Hillary Clinton or it’s gonna be Donald Trump and we have to decide who we want it to be.”
You know what would be absolutely hilarious (and probably, given how badly Trump is likely to crater, advantageous in the long-run for his political career) about all this?
Walker gets up there, goes to the mic… and absolutely savages Trump. Just goes completely off-script to tear the guy down on-camera and urges the delegates to vote for John freakin’ Boehner over Trump.
Tell me that wouldn’t be some awesome political TV, right there.
