Discussion: Scott Walker May Just Have Revealed His 2016 Domestic Policy Platform

Discussion for article #233189

"But the Walker budget hits a number of other hot buttons, too. It slashes public broadcasting funding in the state, cuts $300 million from the University of Wisconsin system, shrinks the secretary of state’s office (which battled Walker over his push to roll back collective bargaining rights), proposes drug testing for recipients of food stamps, Medicaid, and jobless benefits, and makes major changes to the state’s judicial branch (including targeting the liberal chief justice of the Supreme Court with a pay cut). ".

Reads like an ALEC document cut and paste…without the ALEC letterhead

It, also, reads like revenge or retaliation at best.

Why do Wisconsinites keep electing this idiot? Fifty Shades of Grey is a movie, not a Political Philosophy.

If he’s their best, I’m not worried.

“…the state’s $928 million budget shortfall…”

Yep. Republican. Borrow and spend.

But at least he got the conservative part right – the role of the public is to serve the government elite, or in other words “to meet the state’s workforce needs”.

Welcome to Wisconsin, worker. Home of the Chinese economic model.

Walker is a bully cut from the same cloth as Christie (only using about half as much material). Eventually, his style of political payback and corruption is going to catch up with him just as it has with Christie. Neither of them may ever be indicted like Rick Perry, but it will quash their aspirations to the presidency.

You better be. If he gets elected (and he’s got a lot of big money behind him). he’ll drive this country over the cliff to the Great Depression 2, which is what his owners want

Same reason every other state elects every other idiot. Half the people are basically with it, a third are just barely coasting along without really knowing how or why, and a sixth couldn’t find the earth on a globe.

There’s a widespread confusion, especially among businessmen themselves, between what businessmen want and what’s good for business. They are two very different things. The best way to accommodate budget cuts to the university system would be to eliminate the MBA degree.

Amen. There was a spate of information over the past week – the NY Times had an article on Aetna’s CEO and NPR’s TED show had a speech by the guy in Seattle behind the increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour – arguing that it’s in the interest of business to pay their workers a living wage. First, employees will spend what they’re paid, which is good for business. Second, (as Aetna found) paying employees a wage more in line with their needs reduces employee turnover and increases morale, and actually saved Aetna $125 million last year.

Sigh, we’re living in the Revenge of the Turds.

Scott Walker is an unadulterated shitheel.

The little Koch puppet will be handsomely rewarded in his futile run for President, as long as he parrots the ALEC line and makes Wisconsin safe for the Koch brothers’ schemes.

Scottie Boy is Christian Grey as played by Forrest Gump.

Fortunately, any Democratic nominee could turn his pimp hand into a gimp hand

That base consists of about 5 people, 2 of them named Koch.

And bigots.

He’s not a boisterous bully like Christie. He’s a bland bully more accustomed to doing things on the sly.
