Discussion: Scott Walker: Mandatory Ultrasounds Aren’t Crazy, They’re ‘Cool’

Discussion for article #236805

Mandatory orchiectomies for people named Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin, would be even cooler.

I like carrying around skin cancer lesions in my wallet. You know, to take out and show other people. I guess in Scott Walker’s world that makes me normal.

Shove it and love it Republicans. Not a single one of them will speak against this particular jerk.

A shocking lack of empathy seems to be a required trait for Republican candidates.

I take great comfort in watching the G.O.P. Clown Car repeatedly driving into bridge abutments, despite clear weather and dry pavement.

Because the Kochs are paying good money for Walker’s microphone.

You’re shitting me. He said that???
We sure as hell don’t need any fucking Governor Ultrasound for President.
Look what happened to the last one that pulled that crap…He’s in jail now, isn’t he?
Let’s just hope this sick mo-fo gets indicted too. Everyone knows he deserves no less.

I’ve said it before, but I think it bears repeating: right-wing policies are almost invariably mean-spirited, punitive, and/or vindictive. It’s the hallmark of the brand. The G.O.P. represents The Haters.

What part of “mandatory” does he not understand?

It’s an action/adventure flick, right? Down the Alimentary Canal, with Gun and Camera.

Absolutely. The GOP base thinks these are words of wisdom. As far as their concerned, an ultrasound can and SHOULD be used as a cudgel against women to emotionally force them to keep a child they don’t want.

Question: have the number of abortions gone down since this law was enacted in '13?

I would like to see the State of Wisconsin’s bipartisan, independent, peer reviewed study detailing the number of women asking for an abortion and then canceling the procedure. I would like to see within that study the subset of women that directly attributed their cancellation to viewing the ultrasound and the accompanying consultation provided during and after the procedure. I also want to see the subset that cancelled due to the ultrasound, then after more deliberation either rescheduled in Wisonsin or sought and received an abortion in another state. Show me that study Gov. Walker. Validate the efficacy of your law. I won’t hold my breath.

You know what would be even cooler, Scott, you cool dude? Writing the attack ad to jam that “just a cool thing that’s out there” phrase down your throat sideways. Every woman who saw the ad would realize you don’t think they have the capacity to make this decision for themselves. And they’d realize you’re a small-minded not-that-bright shallow simpleton who has near-zero respect for women. And that would be very, very cool.

My wife’s suggestion, upon hearing about Walker’s comments, is that all men are required to get an anal ultrasound before getting a prescription for Viagra.

I’m sure there are no data that exist beyond anecdote and what the pro-life movement feels to be the case based on their worldview.
