I have often thought of Fox (so called) News as the cable “news” equivalent of the front line of an NFL team playing on a Sunday afternoon. It’s quite literally 24/7 Trash Talk. Agitprop is another good description of it.

Guess the Faux Noise zombies have a better explanation for the 2 feet of rain Pensacola, FL received in 24 hours. The entire downtown is in standing water.
Frankly, he should have declined the gig. Or go on air and hit that topic right out of the gate and watch the pee stains spread on the other end of the big curvy couch.

So, they really do all drink the kool-aid. I guess you’d have to, to be able to be there.
Time for the U.S. to move to the Canadian rubric, in line with truth-in-advertising. If it’s called “News” it has to be factual. If it’s opinion (as opposed to factual news) it needs to be clearly labeled as such.
The same sort of separation that you’ll find in nearly every newspaper (note the word “news” in “newspaper”) in the Nation.
There’s a difference between the shaping of news:
– which stories are positioned where, which sources are quoted, and so forth, which will permit the NY Times to be “liberal” and the Washington Times to be “conservative”.
– and the promulgation of opinion as news, to a liberal or conservative bent.
Fox takes the latter to the extreme, and its viewers hear the words of Hannity and company not as opinion but as explicit truth, no matter how distorted the truths. Or the half-truths. Or the outright lies. And sticks all those words under the “News” banner.

I don’t understand why any self-respecting person in any profession or walk of life would agree to participate in the sham that is Fox News. They need to be blacklisted by any and all decent-thinking, intelligent people. Let them get all their guests from the black-helicopter set.
As a scientist, maybe Moyer should have walked away when he was told not to discuss climate change. On the other hand, the more we know about Fox’s behind-the-scenes chicanery, the better – and from a trusted source as well.

Fox News is nothing more than a boiler room for spreading lies.
emiliano may be off on his viewership numbers but he’s spot on about the Fox effect. Don’t forget Fox News often drives the news cycle for other networks. When you add hate radio (does every RWNJ have their own radio show?) and conservative blogs it’s a huge megaphone that results in a right wing echo chamber of misinformation.
