Think he missed a letter in his handwritten correction there. Though I appreciate the Schumer sass, probably re: baseball based sanctimoniousness, itâs not a substitute for actual effectiveness. Whereâs the spotlight on this secrecy? Whereâs the outrage? If youâre still trying to maintain senate decorum or norms youâre missing the big picture of how those havenât applied for at least one year (but really, longer).
Keep the pressure up on Yertle, Mr. Schumer.
Sunlight is the best disinfectantâŚ
This should become a big public issue. The Republicans are scared to death of this bill. What are they going to do when it passes? It wonât be secret then.
like the Senate repubes give a fuck about decorum or tradition, been evident for years that working outside the bounds of Senate âtraditionsâ is IOKIFYAR, go no further than Gorsuch for an example, and likely many many more that have been obscured by the tRUmpian illogic fog over the last few months but escape me now
I guess Iâm missing the sass. Itâs normal to personalize the letter in that way if the sender and recipient have a personal relationship. Expresses comity and an appeal to reason and Senate tradition. Mitch loses unless he takes the higher road.
I hope that this is not the beginning of the Senate Democratsâ capitulation and fold, but if the past is a predictor of the futureâŚ
I saw it as a continuation of him crossing out McConnellâs name on some letter of outrage he had written about Obama years ago and replacing it with his own. He definitely likes calling out Mitch on B.S. (as he should). I also think his cousin has influenced him a bit in the past year or two.
Dear Bitch. FIFY.
The ACA is already being sabotaged and even if the AHCA is sidelined, the ACA as well as Medicaid will be on a death watch. I guess Iâm just not a big fan of sentimental âgesturesâ. McConnell can pass his bill under reconciliation if he wants. Any attempt to invoke the Byrd Rule will be swept away by some parliamentary slight of hand. Iâm not sure what the Dems could do short of an armed revolt. They donât have the votes and moderate Repubs always cave.
Iâm just being realistic. Yes people will suffer. Theyâll suffer either way. Iâm really upset about this. I have no confidence left in our system of government or the capacity of our Constitution to protect us.
Maybe hope for 2018???
Sunlight does nothing other than rot rotten matter quicker.
His cousin? Help me out here, Iâm not getting the reference. Thanks.
Comedienne Amy Schumer.
Cool, thanksâŚI had no idea they were related!
Theyâve done some political events together like gun control rallies.
Canât write that. Had he done so McYertle wouldâve instinctively forwarded it to the Department of Transportation without even reading the letter.
Interesting perspective. You see Dems voting for this turd? Because I donât. Not a one. And who got almost everything they wanted in the continuing resolution? Thatâs right, the Senate Dems.
Sadly, I think events of the past year or so have pretty decisively proven this aphorism wrong.
What I fear is a few Dems voting for some âacceptable compromise.â
