Is Mexico offering to pay now? Finally time they coughed up…

The media and the hysterical left have truly underestimated Schumer’s bargaining power. Let rump and the idiots in the GOP think they got a win. They didn’t. They caved on a few things and are up against a promise they better keep. Art of the Deal my fucking ass.

Ha. That is a ball-busting move. Good for him.

I think the pushback from some of the hysterical left and the bad press pushed him to it. Which is fine, I like it. And he deserves credit for it.

I am in the dark as to why Trump rejected funding for his stupid “wall” and chose a shutdown instead. The Dems better not repeat that offer.

House GOP Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana Monday warned against any “amnesty” measure.

I’m afraid I have to agree.

The one thing that should be completely off the table is amnesty.

For Trump.

As well as for Ryan, Nunes, McConnell, Grassley, Pence, Sessions, Tillerson, Ross, Zinke, Miller, Pruitt, DeVos, Kobach, Kelly, Hicks, Scavino, Conway, McFarland, Gorka, Bannon, the Mercers, Jared, Ivanka, Don Jr, and Eric – unless, of course, they agree to become cooperating witnesses.

You forgot Flynn, Manafort, Page, The Mooch, Uncle Vladdy, Priebus, Steve King, Senator Grasshole, Roy Moore, and most of all, this hypocritical, sanctimonious Christofascist, Tony Perkins..

News of Mr Schumer’s demise are greatly exaggerated. IMO, he’s standing graveside, while McConnell and crew dig themselves into a mighty, mighty pit.

No way; Schumer is much more shrewd than that.

agree hoagie,

they have 3-weeks and now cannot use the CHIP program as a bargaining chip. (sorry, unintended pun)-- Schumer had to protect dems like Heidi Heitkamp - the long game is to keep senate seats and pick up more. He’s tough enough to take the heat… and McConnell – did make a promise…we’ll see.

But it may ok to have both the media and the hysterical left underestimating it. The last thing he needs is for the media to be talking about his long game. Instead, the GOP and the WH feel like they have won a massive victory. Ok, if 3 weeks is massive…

As we read here all to often there is rage expressed about issues that are not yet resolved. Let’s show a little patience until we see the final curtain fall

Expecting McConnell to keep a promise is like expecting a whore to be celibate. An oxymoron. Impossible.

Looking at the CR, I spotted something that looks like the GOP is more worried than they are letting on…

If you go to Congress.gov and look at the CR, what’s interesting is that it allows states to get reimbursed not only for this past weekend, but for any further shutdowns for the rest of the fiscal year - to cover activities that normally are federally funded (like New York keeping the Statue of Liberty open), or paying State employees that are usually partially federally funded (education? Medicaid?)

So, the Republicans are already trying to do damage control for another potential shutdown- but with our soldiers, federal employees and contractors still facing another potential shutdown, I don’t know if this would be enough to prevent the public from reacting negatively.

Well I caution people against holding out hope that Schumer and the D’s won’t cave on the Border Wall. The only reason he took it “off the table” is so he can put it back on the table during negotiations. The next time the D’s actually show spine and stand up to the republicans will be the first time.

Schumer? Wasn’t she in a movie called Trainwreck?

Trump had literally no idea what he was doing, congressional Republicans thought they’d get more… they both walked away with nothing but a target painted on their back come Feb. 8th.

Democrats got CHIP funded without funding the wall in return, as well as a deadline for some sort of movement on DACA… sadly they also got having to suffer bad PR from the short sighted that thought we were ever going to get a DACA outcome out of this as well,

I think “Plan A” is to NOT trust him to keep the promise, and then raise hell in response…

“Plan B” looks to be, McConnell keeps his promise and Trump or Ryan turn out to be the “bad actors” and… raise hell in response.

I don’t think there is a plan where “Trusting the Republicans to act in good faith” is a major part of it.
