In DC what makes government work is compromise. Often messy but compromise is the oil that lets things work. Now, trump shows up with his self described prowess at deal making. Even hired a guy to ghost write a book about it so he could take credit for it. trump’s version of deal making is “heads I win, tails you lose”. All or nothing. No long game. No prior planning. If he can’t immediately get what he wants he throws a full hissy fit and upends the table. We have seen this again and again. There is no trusting trump until he signs the bill. Even then after a signing he may try to blow it all up.
