Discussion: Schumer On 'Trumpcare': 'No One Likes This Bill'

I’m still trying to figure out the politics of this. Did Congressional Republicans really think that this was going to go over well? Are they counting on people forgetting? Are they hoping to blame Obama? Seriously, they managed to roll out a bill that pissed off everyone. Ignoring the terrible policy, how is that good politics?

This bill reminds me of college - frantically writing a report early in the morning the day it is due.

Schumer needs to attend several sessions on messaging!

Stop saying that Trump (see, I didn’t say Republicans, not until it gets closer to the primaries for 2018) is only interested in providing average tax breaks. Reword as follows:

“That’s the real motivation of so many of our Republican colleagues, to
take people whose income is above $250,000 and give them (DELETE - an average) a HUGE tax
break, to take the top .01 percent and give them (DELETE - an average) a HUGE tax break of
$200,000 while making these people pay more. It’s horrible.”

Embellishment is not just right, ITS COMPULSORY! This is class warfare (see what we can do to Trump and his lackeys with their own terminology?)!!!

I’ve been working on a video game for 8 years and hyping it to the public to create buzz. Well, not really working on it, but I have been thinking about it all the time. Well, not really all time, but every now and then. But it will be terrific, believe me!

Keeping the message simple is good.
“higher costs, less coverage”
“tax break for the rich”
“not a health care program”

Repeat often.

They live in a bubble. Faux and the Oxi addict on AMH8 radio keep saying repeal is popular. They don’t hold town meetings. They only talk to each other.

“We believe it, that settles it!”

kumquat16, stop looking at their actions through the lense of logic and reason.

It is all about bloodsport and vengeance/revenge. Remember, there was a mixed race (oops, they mean black) man in the white house before their lord and savior, DJT.

They purposely want to destroy Health Care. They want to create a chaos which will likely result in suspension of some laws. They will sell it as a good bill and when things go bad, blame other programs. Their ultimate goal is to completely kill Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

He spoke simply and repeatedly of higher costs and less coverage. I view that as effective.

Clearly one of the biggest problems with ACA is that it did not adequately address lottery winners. I’m glad they straightened that out.

It’s beyond politics. The gop is fighting the forces of voices inside their own heads. They cannot hear anything else.
It’s finally come full circle, tell a lie long enough and you end up believing it. Now there shocked by the outcome of reality that was always there in front of them for 7 years.
Obamacare works, could use a few tweaks to make it better.
Trump cannot save this nightmare bill and soon will be cooking some gop ass, starting with ryan.
The best part of this movie is yet to come.

Pity the poor Teapublicans who have been very clear about hating Obamacare but have NEVER known what they can actually support.

You got that right. The cliff moves ever closer day by day.

Good for Schumer on the two most important counts:

1.) “Trumpcare”

2.) Pointing out that it’s a tax cut for the superrich disguised as a health plan.

Keep hammering on those themes. Tie Trump to this plan. Expose the switcheroo.
