More messaging fail. Fucking idiot. You said nothing about the FACT that itâs not going bankrupt and that the ACA helped it save something like $500M so far by forcing doctors/providers to be more accountable for their billing.
The Ryan Plan and the Price plan are both terrible for Seniors, period, end of story. The Ryan plan is just plain sleazy. In his proposal, it is stated that people can opt-in to Medicare, but if there is low financial gain for the Insurance Companies, they will opt-out, essentially leaving people with no choice of care.
Any sane person would have seen this coming from the GOP once the election results were announced. Ryan blaming Dem Senators .... wow, his followers must be really really stupid.
A couple of weeks ago, I contacted my Senator-For-Life about this matter. I received a reply just this morning about it.
Please note his calm reassurances aboutâŚsomething. Hatch undoubtedly knows where he stands, but heâs not yet willing to make it known. Iâm pretty sure, however, that when push comes to shove, heâll toe the party line, whatever that may be at that particular time. For now, heâs playing it safe:
Dear Mr. (CharlieE):
Thank you for your e-mail comments about Medicare. I appreciate hearing from you.
As the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Medicare program, let me assure you that I will continue looking out for fellow Utahns who are in their older years. I worked hard to ensure that the Medicare drug benefit would provide assistance to those who need it the most. In addition, I strongly support providing seniors with viable options for long-term care coverage and am working with my colleagues to find ways that long-term care coverage will be more accessible to seniors.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. If you would like to receive regular updates on my work in the U.S. Senate, I encourage you to subscribe visit my Facebook page and follow me on Twitter.
Your Senator,
Orrin G. Hatch
United States Senator
Schumer is getting the better of Ryan on this, but itâs more about setting up the GOP to pay a political price after this is done rather than stopping the legislation, which Dems canât.
âWe are taking Republicans at their own word: Speaker Ryan has pushed to privatize Medicare for years and the President-elect has nominated a champion of that effort to be the Secretary of Health and Human Services," Schumer said in a released statement. "The people who are genuinely and rightly scared are millions of American seniors who donât believe privatization of Medicare will be in their interest.â
Dear Chuck
Just call Ryan, a zombie-eyed granny starver. You will feel great in the end.
âRyan told reporters at a press conference Thursday that Democrats were using âMedi-scare tacticsââŚâ
And claiming Medicare is âgoing bankruptâ?
Nope, definitely not a scare tactic.
Alright people, move along now. No projection to see here.
They can stop it, if a large number of congressional Republicans start blurting out in unison âWait a secâŚâ.
When 'pubs cry that Medicare and Social Security are going broke, remind them of very easy fixes:
-
Raise the cap on annual contributions. If that isnât palatable in itself, create an income âdonut holeâ between the current cap and, say $250k/year income. When the tax kicks in again, make it employee-only so no impact on the employer.
-
Subject ALL income to Mcare and SS tax! Bonuses, which make up a large portion of high wage earners incomes, arenât taxed the same as earnings. Make capital gains Mcare and SS taxable over an annual threshold.
The 'pubs donât want to fix Medicare, they want to destroy it and all other safety nets.
âI havenât heard anyone propose that on our side.â Sen. Cornyn
Either heâs a damned liar or he really needs to watch something besides Fox News. Iâm going with the former.
Go with both options - you know you want to.
I dont think so. Medicare privatization/destruction is totally in the hand of Senate Republican. If it doesnt happen, it will be because of them and not Dems. Same for Obamacare. They will promply blame Dems for everything as you would expect and their base/voters will buy it.
Perhaps when all the madness and mass white hysteria ends and the nation attempts to recover from a wave of depression, sickness, and environmental collapse, weâll consider a Medicare for all national system. Assuming we still have a country.
Oh, and OT.
âSnottie [Nell Hughes] beamed me twice last night and it was wonderfulâ
Dems may not be able to âstopâ the legislation - especially if the 'pub House resorts to using budget reconciliation games - but I can assure you that the insurance and healthcare provider industries will not be sitting idly by when they attempt to change this fundamental program.
Healthcare remains at ~17% of our GDP (amazingly, this has been consistent for decades) so such massive changes will not go unchallenged.
Whatâs that giant sucking sound?
Itâs millions of American seniors after the Republicans take their oxygen tanks away.
So Cornyn only listens to other Senators? He doesnât hear anything from the House? Câmon Chuck. NAIL THEM. Whereâs Harry?
In fact, Iâm going to reply to myself on this one haha. These idiots should be characterizing ACA repeal as the GOP/Teatrolls wanting to give overcharging doctors and providers and hospitals a $500M reward for consistently overcharging and/or for performing services willy-nilly when they know they are unnecessary and/or are unlikely to have any therapeutic medical outcome. Medicare repeal is itself the same thingâŚa reward and incentive to perform services willy-nilly. How many of you really want to see grandma and grandpa under the knife for no good reason and think âeh, no big dealâŚat least medicare is paying for itâ? Is that jejunectomy really necessary for grandpaâs gas? Is grandmaâs heartburn really worth the risks of general anesthesia on an elderly brain?
On what planet?
"âwhatâs happening is youâre getting the latest wave of Democratic talking points to try to play Medi-scare politicsâ
Right, because running around with your hair on fire claiming that Medicare is going bankrupt and that the ACA has damaged isnât âMedi-scare Politicsâ when the truth of the matter is that itâs not going bankrupt and the ACA has already saved Medicare $500M.
