Democrats really need to do their homework and start speaking in terms of dollars and cents. What Schumer is saying here, and I’m disappointed because he’s been doing better at points up to now, is so vague and generalized as to be meaningless.
There are figures available. Every Democrat who opens his or her mouth must use them because people need to know what this bill is going to cost them personally. They need to know what the reduction in the help they have been receiving to buy healthcare will be. They need to know just how much Medicare will be rolled back and what it will mean to those who depend on it.
The differences, particularly in the poor and rural red states where the changes are going to be most dire in effect, are astonishing.
