Discussion: Schumer After Trump Meeting: 'We Still Have A Good Number Of Disagreements'

And even that narrative gelds Ryan, McConnell and the rest of the GOP - not that they have balls that have dropped.

Ummm, that would be never.

That Clinton guy was pretty good at it, can’t think of one today who is, maybe one of the newbies.

> "The government could shut down because Donald Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing"

Trump set the current crisis in motion last September when he revoked Barack Obama’s executive order that protected DREAMERs — young unauthorized immigrants brought to the US as children — from deportation, but he offered no guidance about what he wanted to happen next, other than for Congress to do … something.

The lack of clarity emboldened immigration hardliners in the GOP caucus while simultaneously raising hopes for a deal among immigration reformers. But Trump’s intervening behavior wound up salting the earth by leaving everyone feeling that he might screw them over at any moment. Consequently, nobody is quite sure exactly who is shutting down the government or what it is the White House is trying to achieve by rejecting a bipartisan proposal that would avert a shutdown.

I’m not sure why it has to be a choice. If they do more than one decent thing, will it void their warranties?

Trump hates Dreamers so much, he’s willing to screw over millions of Americans, Americans who don’t hate Dreamers, and who believe in extending opportunity to young people.

Anybody remember this one ? ? … not that long ago …

Oh no. Meet the Press Daily is saying that the Democrats are evaluating some secret offer, and sense that someone (Schumer) may blink. Please, Democrats, don’t crumble over nothing yet again.

Enforcement of labor rules is a nonessential government function in this administration even when the government is not shut down.

Except for that little disagreement 156 years ago.

Yeah I started to say…

And that time one representative (Preston Brooks, slavery advocate,) took a cane to Senator Sumner (abolitionist) and nearly killed him on the floor of Congress.

It was during that period, so I guess it’s covered in the disagreement

Don’t you know I have only to clench my fist, and you will be completely unable to breath? I am the master. I have power no one else can even dream about. Believe me. Many people say they know this. Everybody knows this.

So… do you have any money?

Were any of the disagreements about Trounce’s height, weight, girth, or tendency to lie impetuously?

Governing by fiat and calamity were also sticking points.

Negotiations will continue but not with the man-child Preznident, its way past his ni nite time and he needs his Faux ficks.

Yup. As I understand it, his “gang” of friends kept him surrounded so he couldn’t be taken into custody or disciplined, so until the fighting broke out he was just another source of tension. Truly, we have a lot to answer for…

There are some Dems in the Senate who, if given the chance, could and likely would use the national stage effectively. I would include Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown and Ron Wyden in that group, and there may be others.

Unfortunately for the Democratic Party and the nation, the majority of Senate Dems chose Schumer, rather than one of the Dems capable of using the national stage effectively, to be the Senate Minority Leader.

Chuck, unless, somehow, it’s a look that you successfully use to make everyone underestimate your power, the way you wear those reading glasses off the end of your nose all the time makes you look like a complete nebbish. Good lord, man, if you need them that often, at least put them on a lanyard.
