In an email Saturday, the NRA called the companies’ actions “a shameful display of political and civic cowardice” …

… adding, “You’ll never intimidate us. As long as we have our assault weapons, NRA members will always be the bravest people in America.”

Maybe not, but he wrote the book on phony & inauthentic.

Can’t expand your business model into the future if you don’t have the next generation of customers. Good going, kids. Very smart move.

Interestingly, I had no idea so many companies gave discounts and special offers to NRA members. Bottom line, if you want to be part of gun culture in this country, its gonna affect your bottom line.

The next bit of doubletalk from the NRA is that boycotts aren’t really that effective or a big deal, to which I say, “Bullshit”, and the only reason why major companies are bailing. Associating with the NRA for most Americans has become TOXIC.

I just found out that Emma Gonzalez’s Twitter page - x.com - now has over six times the amount of followers than the NRA page, in less than two weeks. I guess the Russian Twitter bots aren’t earning their pay this week.
Oh, and I know this is OT, but anytime someone gives a major “FUCK YOU!” to that silicone skank Ivankadonk, it is a good day to be OT:

So proud of all these people! Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! Well... Everyone except Ivanka. Honestly, tf is she doing here?? pic.twitter.com/sfJKi0VTDb

He wouldn’t know authentic if it slapped him in the face.

The NRA argument about exploiting shootings for gun control is really rich when stoking fears of gun control is their main selling point to the general public.

The last fucking person I would ever want to get a comforting hug from is Dinesh D’Souza. The man looks like the human incarnation of ebola, which must be why Laura Ingraham had sex with him.

Hey, I’ll take that job! If it pays at least minimum wage and I am allowed to use a 2 x 4!

The only thing that is “a shameful display of political and civic cowardice” is the inaction of Congress.

Probably any large group you can think of gets discounts like that, and a lot of pretty medium ones too. But most aren’t as polarizing as the NRA has become. Obviously the companies are reasoning that if they get something in marketing leverage, they lose more in terms of their corporate image and good will. The fact is fewer and fewer people shoot as a hobby, and if the manufacturers and their cat’s paw the NRA don’t wise up and find a more constructive path forward, they’re going to be driven to the wall, the way smokers and drunk drivers have been.

They aren’t organizing their grief, D’Souza, you blood-sucking mutant salamander. They’re organizing a political movement. And they’re doing rather well at it. But you wouldn’t know excellence or genuine passion or constructive civic engagement if you saw it, because you’re seeing it now and you don’t know it. Idiot.

See, this is what I was talking about a few days ago: I don’t think that what’s happening now will change actual gun control legislation, at least not yet. What it is clearly doing is creating a new sense of political urgency and, most of all, political savvy among people ages 20 and younger. These kids are finding out the hard way that there are MANY adults in this country who would use them as human shields to protect an inanimate killing machine.

They also understand that apathy is not an option. Targeted action is.

Didn’t he date Laura Ingraham? There’s a lot he wouldn’t know the meaning of. It’s too bad he didn’t discover the meaning of life in prison.

Can’t have it both ways, NRA. As long as you incite your members’ anti-government fantasies and promote your crackpot legal theories, you’re not the self-described paragon of “patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms.” You’re just another domestic terrorist cell. Now you can pay full fare just like all the other terrorists.

Even worse, they don’t simply stoke fears of gun control. What they stoke fears of are abolishment of the second amendment, that the government will come and confiscate everyone’s guns, and that you’re endangering the lives of your loved ones by not stockpiling guns. They straight out lie through their idiotic, fearmongering, straw man arguments about a national gun ban that no elected official is even discussing. This is the Big Lie in America.

Does he have the right to vote in his state, by the way?
If so, can I inquire whether states can write bills of attainder? I would propose one for him.

Agreed. The thing is that we’re all being held hostage by the NRA. If these young folks can turn public opinion against the NRA, if they can make the organization politically toxic, that’s when we’ll get meaningful gun reform. When pols fear that taking NRA money and receiving a high rating from the group will produce a bigger backlash at the polls than not doing so is when we’ll see real change. These kids have figured that out, and will provide a template going forward to other kids and victims of mass shootings. Eventually, even the GOP will have to cut ties with the NRA.
