Discussion: School Resource Officer Praised For Stopping Gunman At Maryland HS

Still waiting for Trump’s triumphant tweet on this.

To summarize, the American gun store is the only public place a crazy person can go, to not be treated like a crazy person. Republicans are behind every factor that makes this statement true, from insufficient mental health care, to lax gun regulation, to the metastatic proliferation of “tactical” shit into things like tungsten-carbide flashlights that could crush diamonds and make someone’s eyes really uncomfortable.

Congratulations to this resource officer for being able to stop the gunman.

However, we can’t expect having “good” armed people in schools as the only means of preventing “bad” armed people from being in schools.

Yes but the student had a weapon and managed to shoot two kids. So while the SRO did his job it is not the solution. Lucky that tbe shooter didnt have an AR15, lucky that it probably was a targeted attack, lucky that the SRO was nearby.

So while the NRA , the Press, and law inforcement have been heaping praise, understand how it is being used.

My thought exactly: there is a world of difference of running in and confronting a handgun with a small magazine as opposed to a weapon like the AR15 like in Parkland.

Sadly, however, it will likely boost the NRA narrative for a while.

That’ll keep going until the first innocent is killed by an armed teacher or resource officer or whatever. Which is bound to happen, and probably sooner rather than later, the way things are headed.

So lucky the shooter only had a handgun. And that there weren’t a lot of other students around.
