Discussion: School Hired Ex-FBI Agent To Stalk Students On Social Media Then Expelled Them

Discussion for article #229669

I’m sure the Tea Party’s free speech advocates will be all over this.

Let’s not forget…there is no requirement you be truthful on social media and almost nothing you find there can be taken as Gospel. Kids are kids…on social media too.

At some point this has to stop. Hopefully this ends up in lawsuit…

Privacy issues notwithstanding, 14 students expelled in exchange for a $157,000 salary. That’s over 10,000 per student expelled. Wow. Just wow.

Obviously the problem in AL is graduation rates are too high.

“These numbers tell me that I have kids with some major issues,”

So instead of addressing those issues they expel them. Problem solved.

Amurikkkan Teatroll Rosetta Stone says: “If we can’t take the public school system away from the blah kids, then dad gummit we’re gonna take the blah kids away from the public school system!!!”

…and the TokenNon-Whites were left-leaning…

and smarter than the average TeaXian.

And while they expelled the twelve black kids because of
said “guns and gangs”—some disaffected white kid is thinking
about bringing his non-gang ass to school with a loaded automatic
weapon.

Who could have forsee that?

I think the bigger problem is that they expelled 305 students last year.

There is no privacy issue here. That said, the rest of your post I agree with.

McRae does other work besides leading the social media investigations.

I’d like to know what that “other work” is and if there is any ‘connectivity’ with the school monitoring.

I thought we threw off the shackles of our British oppressors long ago. But I see AL has embraced the 3rd wave of British oppression with the music of Pink Floyd. (don’t make me spell it out)

Can a school legally contract with a 3rd party to monitor the school’s students after hours?

Is there an expectation of privacy of with regards to what a person posts publicly on Social Media?

No matter how poor the school, or how ‘starved’ the beast is, there is always enough money int he south to shoot, expelled, and in general marginalize black kids.

There is an expectation that your school will not use tax payer dollars to target you.

As I said, I agree that this was (at least from what I have read) a gross misuse of public funds which were suppose to be spent on education.

But this is 100% not a “privacy” issue.
