Schiff makes a good point. You don’t send a high government official to a war zone announced. The Trump administration has demonstrated that it is utterly unreliable by announcing Pelosi’s plans.
This is going to blow up in Trump’s face majorly. He did a petty thing, but it underminded national security. The democrats and Pelosi will not forget, they will get even. Expect hearings and shaming over Trump and his band of Grifters travel during and before the shut down.
E.g. Senator Kennedy was shooting off his mouth, about having talked to Trump on Airforce One on the way back from Trump having given a speech in N.O.
And there is a big difference, the Military who were taking/protecting Pelosi are being paid (DOD is not part of the shut down) but those guarding Trump, from the secrete service, are NOT getting paid. Pelosi will be pointing this out…

The is no such thing as reality to Donald Trump. He has zero relation to the realities of what it means to travel to a war zone…He really needs to be tossed out on his bum.
Trump traveled during the shutdown overseas. He also had a New Years party. Too cheap to pay for a Chef. When the National Champions came to the WH. So he fed Clemson fast food. Trump didn’t feed his guests hamburgers New Years.

Earlier today I wondered on another thread where the a.m. tweety bird was. Figured there might be some strange, but never in a million years would I have imagined this idiot would pull something like this right before the delegation was to get on the plane.

Most, if not all, of tRump’s New Year’s guests were white. Clemson players are mostly black.

I am assuming that most of his base think that this is a power move. To us, it is, of course, clearly a tantrum. In a way, I am just as happy not to have Pelosi go to a war zone. It might be dangerous and we need her here.
Revoking the President’s invitation to the SOU is also unprecedented. I’m 100% behind the revocation but let’s not sound childish when baby slaps back. Had Nancy canceled this trip herself in light of the shutdown, they would have stolen Trump’s thunder. Don’t give him a win by pissing and moaning.
And saying they are ‘totally’ different is not an argument you will win with the public.
Dear Democrats
Don’t get huffy. That’s what he wants. Don’t make this what you talk to the media about.
Talk about the economic cost of the shutdown to middle class Americans. Point out that the wall is a terrible idea, cite facts and trusted sources.
Tell Americans what could be done with 5 billion instead.
Move on to common sense governing and people will start to pay attention
