Discussion: Schiff: 'Disturbing' That Sessions Won't Say If Trump Tried To Derail Russia Probe

There’s so much that’s “disturbing” in today’s news.

With respect, Congressman, there isn’t anything about Jeff Sessions that isn’t disturbing.

Schiff basically got Sessions to a point where he could not state under oath that Trump didn’t direct him to obstruct or interfere in the investigation. This is more confirmation to me that Sessions is cooperating with the Mueller investigation and is not continuing to lie to cover Trump but is also keeping himself in the game long enough to give Mueller the space to keep moving forward and get his guilty pleas and indictments.

It’s disturbing all right. I suppose he can’t be compelled by the committee to answer that question. What happens if he’s asked by Mueller?

[/quote]Either that or Sessions has to seriously consider if refusing to answer questions about Trump’s obstruction of justice puts Sessions deeper into the conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Sessions is on the Trump train. How can he possibly save himself if Trump goes down, unless that’s part of the deal?

Sarah Isgur Flores, a spokeswoman for Sessions, pushed back on Schiff’s comments, saying the attorney general told the committee that he has “never been directed to do anything illegal or improper.”

Parsing b.s. We all know what happened.

The thought of Rep. Joe Baron naked is “disturbing”.

The Attorney General – under oath – refusing to tell Congress if the President committed treason is “criminal”.

But that’s just me…

There’s that word “directed” again.

Somebody should let Sessions know he is not the president’s lawyer, he’s OUR lawyer. He can’t decline to answer questions from Congress simply because he asserts there is some “tradition” that Attorneys General do not do so. There is no such “tradition”, although there is executive privilege. If the president wants to claim executive privilege regarding conversations he’s had with the Attorney General, let the president assert it, since he and not the AG holds that privilege. And good luck to him if he does, because it won’t fly if the conversations pertained to committing the crime of obstruction of justice.

Yeah I doubt he was - I’m sure he volunteered. hahahahaha

This executive-privilege thing seems to be expanding to fit the needs of the administration. If it were litigated (which it won’t be because modern republicans on both sides) it would be interesting to see certain judges tie themselves into knots about why the privilege should be larger for this president.

Asked, cajoled, coaxed, inquired of, requested, queried about - but never directed.

I like the idea, but I don’t buy it. Sessions is up to his eye… well, he’s actually entirely submerged, but only because of how close his eyes are to the ground… in the whole Russian Co-operation thing.

These guys are not in panic mode. They all, to a man, believe they’re gonna pull this off and make this nation part of the Eastern Bloc. They do not believe that they will face any consequences but untold riches.

Go get a court order that he answer or STFU. Play hardball or just give up, because nothing short of waving around court orders with the threat of contempt, and/or a machete with the threat of castration, is going to make these fuckers answer any inconvenient questions with the truth. Moreover, Sessions needs to have his bar membership put squarely on the line and Dem Senators should be filing a complaint with the Alabama Bar. They should have done so the day after he perjured himself.

The Attorney General – under oath – refusing to tell Congress if the President committed treason is “treason”.

Did you mis-type “treason” the second time you used the word in that sentence? Anyway, I fixed it for ya.

Also:

The thought of Rep. Joe Baron naked is revolting/disgusting/mortifying/off-putting. (Select one.)

As usual with the Trumpers, comments need to be parsed for evasion and misdirection (that is, when they aren’t lying outright — harder to do with Mr. Mueller running around).
