Discussion for article #226506
Personally, I like Schatz. He’s been outspoken taking on global warming and climate change, which for Hawaii should concern all, especially with the change of the jet stream, currents being affected and shifts in oceanic temperatures along with the rise of sea levels.
I don’t know where Hanabusa was on these issues, but I agree with the one person that they interviewed that said, “I loved Dan Inouye, but just go on your record, don’t invoke his name,” said Leonard Feliciano, 60, who voted for Schatz on Friday. “Don’t play on our hearts. We need to move on.”
I read somewhere that the wishes of Inouye was relayed 2nd hand and not from his own lips…so who knows? At least this State is likely to remain in Democratic hands. That’s one we don’t have to worry about…We need so desperately to retain the Senate. That’s not up for debate in my mind. No Senate, no appointing ambassadors desperately needed or any more judges, and an impeachment trial is a good possibility, even if it has less of a chance to result in actual impeachment.
Schatz did not vote to retool Social Security, Ms. HanabUSA (actual lawn sign) did.
The Asian Americans were incensed when Schatz was appointed, time to get over it.
The voters culled the Governor, got an Asian American replacement on the ballot AND decided that Schatz was a fresh choice after the Inouye era came to an end.
That’s called getting out the vote.
I just got back from Hawaii, we left that Sat. of the election. Lot’s of folks on the side of the roads with signs for their fav candidate. Happy, lively bunch I must say. Did notice some of the roads and businesses were closed due to downed trees. Hawaii has some of the nicest and happiest people I’ve ever met. All are very concerned about climate change, environmental issues. Sadly, many of them are not happy with the Obama administration on environmental issues.
