Discussion for article #230919
Creepy, a little sad, but unfortunately a necessary step toward decreasing the already too high population of the Earth. Better to do it this way, than the other option.
“The way to stop this is to get people to have more babies.”
“Um…fuck you. YOU have the babies.”
Creepy is an understatement.
How, exactly, are these stuffed figures scaring crows?
You wrote the exact thing I was thinking. And it’s not just creepy; it’s also bordering on deranged. If the countryside has been emptying out for a couple of decades now, accept it and and move on. Don’t keep coming up with half baked ideas on how to force humans into empty towns, cooerce people into having more babies or even worse, create and arrange stuffed dolls to mimic human activity. UGH…
This looks like the most rational response to mass demographic change I’ve seen, and at least the woman and her neighbors are trying to caretake what they do have left. If this was the US, the school would be a warren of broken windows, graffiti, garbage, wrecked appliances and human waste.
I’m imagining the Chinese are working on a long-term emmigration agreement with Japan to ‘solve’ the issue of depopulating countrysides.
