Discussion: Scarborough Hammers Barr For 'Laughing' About 'Breaking The Law'

Barr laughed about it because he knows heā€™s bulletproof. He wonā€™t have to testify, he wonā€™t be held accountable.

Thatā€™s where we are, folks. I appreciate Nadler and all the others that are trying to do something about it, but it will all come to naught unless the subpoenas get some teeth in them. The Dems keep moving the goalposts.

Itā€™s time to kick ass and take names.

I think Walter Dellingerā€™s point, that the focus on seeing the materials beneath the redactions distracts from the reportā€™s descriptions of crimes in plain sight, is an important one. I am not sure that this was a conscious strategy, but creating controversies around things like redactions and negotiations around conditions for testimony have completely taken the oxygen away from media attention to the campaign and the deeds of the president.

It will be hard to blame the criminals in the GOP for killing American Democracy, when in fact itā€™s Nancy Pelosi who failed to defend it at the moment of crisis.

Like the scorpion the corrupt republican is following his nature; and the House Leadershipā€™s inaction speaks to theirs.

Thanks for your inciteful and oh-so-helpful comment of stunning something-or-other.

BernOrBust-er or one of Vladiā€™s elves? I canā€™t decide which you are.

Lock Barr up.

How so? Because Speaker Pelosi has not held a presser saying theyā€™re starting impeachment proceedings? I think sheā€™s taking a longer view of things: hearings for many/most Committees, each focusing on one or more aspect(s) of Rethug and White House corruption. The hope is that it takes its toll, and Traitor Turtle wakes up on 11/4/20 to find heā€™ll be ā€œformer Majority Leader.ā€

Itā€™s the House Judiciary Committee, not Senate, holding him in contempt.

On the other hand, I hold the current Senate majority in contempt. Buncha traitors.

PS: Not that there was any doubt, but I also hold the entire Rethug Partei in contempt.

IMHO Itā€™s past time for Dems to go all in and adopt the same scorched earth policies Rethugliklans would employ. I, for one, am losing faith in their abilities to see this through. But thatā€™s just impatient me, I suppose.

And if Scarborough was still in congress there is a 99% 101% chance heā€™d be laughing along with the rest of the Republicans.

Iā€™ll join you in your contempt for the rethug Senate.

Ah, Joe ā€¦ youā€™re just playing into the deplorablesā€™ hands. They LOVE that he laughed. Meanwhile, Pelosi told a closed-door session of her gang that impeachment remains off the table. Sigh. I wish someone would explain their strategy, but I know they canā€™t (if there is one).

I understand your concern, itā€™s not an unreasonable one. But I trust Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, Cummings et al. (Hoyer, not so much) to keep the pressure on the Corruption Crew. Try not to let it get you down too much, the Dems will get there, just not instantaneously.

Nancy Pelosi should have spoken to the press and publicly called out Barr on his flippant question. She needs to humiliate him, not give him a pass. This is repulsive behavior.

Why is Pelosi ā€œtaking her timeā€?

ā€œIf you are going to shoot the King, you better not miss.ā€

She needs this to be SLAM DUNK stuff, and it ainā€™t there yet. It may be for you, but not for 40% of America.
Since IMPEACHMENT is a POLITICAL PROCESS and not a Criminal Process, you must make sure that you have broad support for it, or you end up like the Republicans did in 1998.
Al Gore was a coward and a fool for distancing himself from Clinton in the 2000 election, and it cost him (and us) dearly (yes, I know he actually won the election and the SCOTUS took it from him, but he wussed out on that fight too.)

Remember, Nixon was NEVER IMPEACHED. The Impeachment Proceedings had only just started when he resigned in disgrace, after more than 2 years of wrangling in the Courts and Congress with the White House. Since he resigned, the proceedings were stopped, and no Impeachment ever took place.

Only TWO Presidents have actually been Impeached: Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton.
Johnson survived by ONE vote. Clinton was never really in danger of being convicted by the Senate and breezed through the Trial with an acquittal on all charges.
We donā€™t want that to happen with Trump

I am such an incredibly old fart but even I, in my advanced state and while I am not changing my adult diapers and yelling at those mp12-listening whippersnappers to get off my fucking front lawn, remember 3 years ago when J.O. and Microfiber were laughing at Hillary Clinton and worshipping at the altar of Donald Trumps delectable balls.

Thought we forgot about that, assholes?

My only criticism of Pelosiā€™s strategy for handling impeachment is how sheā€™s handling the rather large impeach-now bloc in her caucus. She should be encouraging them to be the bad cops, while pointing out that ā€œit isnā€™t time yet.ā€ As for Barr, she needs to hold him in contempt and find a way to enforce it. Iā€™m sure John Mitchellā€™s old jail cell is available.

There is a Presser today, sorry, did not get time/place but saw the headline in passing at WaPo. Mobile on the road is so iffy and passengers store up stuff for ā€˜laterā€™. :disappointed_relieved:

Whose presser? What topic? (I realize you may not have that info.) All I can guess from CNN.com is that it might be an Iran-related thing.
