We would readily agree: violence has no legitimate place in our society. Also, we note not all violence is physical. Vast numbers of our citizens are, through no control of there own, feaefully suspended above the abyss. Change is not the issue here, but the mean-spirited, almost gleefully ripping away of large parts of our societal safety net is an issue. This is in your face, “gotcha now you sob”, brutality.
Violence is the easy, lazy expression of weakness. This is not about ideological differences, rather about humanity, or the lack of humanity, between our differences.
Steady, full recovery for all those injured.
GOP House Whip Steve Scalise faces a “much more difficult” struggle to recover from his gunshot wound than first thought, President Donald Trump said Thursday.
Than who first thought? No trauma surgeon who even heard about this case likely thought it would be a quick recovery. I’m not a surgeon, but even I knew right away that Rep. Scalise is in for a very long slow recovery. I can’t imagine any medical professional telling Trump otherwise.
The shooting prompted talk of improving security for lawmakers…
Shouldn’t they just be allowed to cary their own guns and protect themselves? Isn’t that what they’ve been preaching all along? If arming ourselves is enough protection for us, why not them?
The initial report from the hospital said he was in stable condition and implied that after surgery he would be on his way to recovery. And if he had been shot in the side of the hip from the front or back, it might only damage the hip joint itself. Which would obviously be bad for playing baseball, but not nearly as bad as a bullet passing from one side to the other, going through major arteries and organs on the way, which is what happened.
