Discussion: Sasse: I 'Regularly Consider' Leaving The GOP

Next thing you know, he’ll be “concerned.” And we all know what that leads to…

Another gutless wonder… At least Flake had the decency to leave congress

Sen. Sasse, you regularly disappoint by remaining a member of the GOP.

Not betting on it, at all. But I would welcome a Jim Jeffords move - if Sasse were to make one.

If there were serious buzz around this - he wouldn’t be left unscathed by the Twitter Rager in Chief after he makes criticisms. The lack of response by Trump makes it pretty clear Trump views Sasse as a gnat, not as a threat to the power balance in the senate.

A 87 (rounded off) grade is a B, right?

Though he might have rebounded and beat her in the actual primary, Flake was getting stomped by Ward, when it came to polling.

A real, exemplary profile in courage!

What a coincidence, Sassy Ben. I regularly consider pushing your sorry complicit ass down a flight of stairs.

“A Jim Jeffords move”? Oh, please! Ben Sasse is Donald Trump without the combover and the spray tan.

Actually, I also would welcome a move like that, since I remember what a pole-up-the-butt it was to Bush II and the GOP at the time. But Sasse is a coward and a phony. He’s like Rand Paul, but without the neighbors who want to beat the crap out of him.

Hey Ben, guess which party more closely adheres to the ethos of Lincoln and the policies of Reagan?

Your party takes money from murderers foreign and domestic, and coddles racists and authoritarians similarly, and you’re splitting the difference because your voters are ignorant yahoos, and you’re a narcissist who croons love songs to what he fancies to be his sensitive, thoughtful self in the mirror. You’re no reformer, Benjie. You’re a collaborator and a traitor. Go sit by the river and think deep thoughts about that.

Dear Senator Ben Sasse,
What are these reforms of which you speak? Have you laid out anything in written form, or are you waiting for some divine inspiration? Have you go out to a cornfield near you, wet your finger tip, raised up, and checked to see which way the wind is blowing?

I want to see my party of Lincoln reformed, I also think of leaving the GOP. Then I realize both take courage and action on my part, so I get over it.

Hey Sassee, go ahead, grow a pair and pull a Kapernick, and just do it. Otherwise, just STFU.

I think Sasse knows what he said is load of BS. But, - he does have visions of 2020 in mind and so he has to appear to see things for what they are. He knows the GOP base is shrinking ans so he has to make up for that fact with people who are somewhat sane. He has to try to convince Indies that he can change the reality of the GOP and “be best” er.

The reality is that he’s a Rethug pure and simple. .

I think “reform” is a euphemistic shorthand for “get our asses kicked so hard the playing field is scrambled and Trump so embroiled in legal nightmares he’ll be quietly written off as a huge liability from which we’re moving on.”
