Just think. If only they’d done a special one-time “Scalia gets double votes” amendment. Same outcome as having Clarence on the bench, and two votes would have been freed up when Fat Tony finally at the Big Canoli.

This is how it will work. McConnell and the GOP will shut down any questioning on Roe v. Wade, yelling “he’s answered the question” while any Dem tries to get a straight answer on it and the nominee spews scripted avoidance nonsense. Faux News will spin everything into “the Dems are trying to turn this into a political football for the election and all this talk about Roe v. Wade is nothing but demagoguery trying to scare people for votes.” The nominee will then be confirmed without any clear congressional record of his/her positions on Roe. INSTANTLY, every red state in the country will ban abortion…or enact something only slightly less heinous,in a frantic, culture-war sprint to be the one who gets to claim credit for the overturning of Roe v. Wade. You think I’m kidding? That shit is WRITTEN AND READY TO GO AS WE SPEAK and we will see them race to enact whatever it is they have planned no less than a week after the confirmation.
I’d guess Cohen’s team. If there are nuggets in there that are going to be seen as red flags by Trump, et al., then it fits with his current desperate signalling that Trump should pardon him “or else.”

They have to exist digitally, that’s how they get recovered. The bits are all scanned and fed to a program that automagically matches up the pieces, reproducing the original. This can then be saved, stored, shared with counsel, leaked, etc.

Of course. I was wrongly imagining a scenario where the original is not copied digitally before shredding, and the lawyers were not entitled to it yet.
Liked x gazillions. I agree with your entire post. The right wing demands the end to Roe yet the GOP knows if they give them what they want the GOP will be in trouble. I say do it. Go ahead and see how that works out for you, Republicans. It is time to end this charade of having it both ways. They won’t be able to gin up 1/3 the outrage over contraception, although they will try. Same with gay marriage. Whatever they do is going to backfire on them spectacularly.

In fairness to the divine Sarah (can’t believe I’m saying this), it may be rather hard to state clearly what Trump’s position is on any issue, or what his thoughts are on any subject.
The first is so fluid as to be indeterminable, and it is unlikely for the second, that there is any justification for assuming he has any.
