Discussion: Sanders To Cut 'Hundreds' Of Campaign Jobs And Focus On Winning California

How long before all the wheels come off Bernie?

I was a fan of your for a long long time but from what you’ve shown us these past couple of weeks I never really knew the person that was you.

Your wife has her own peculiarities too.

Nice couple!!

Not very socialist of him.

His campaign’s burn rate is astonishing, so it’s no wonder he’s scaling back - but not in my opinion to “focus on California”, but to make sure that there’s something left that he can roll into his Senate campaign & then retirement account.

I don’t know about that (and couldn’t care less about his wife), but I"ll admit, some of the things he’s said lately have me reconsidering my ballot in the upcoming Oregon primary.

So even if BS won every California delegate - and he won’t - it will not get him the number he needs. I am not so generous as to say he should stay in the race but it appears that Jane Sanders and Jeff Weaver have convinced him to carry on. I look for Tad Devine to leave since he is a Democrat operative - having been involved in Democratic P races since 1980. As someone noted - he cannot risk his bread and butter to continue to support his losing campaign against Clinton.

This reminds me of the stupid investor exemplar–Prices are down, so we are going to sell. If prices go up, we’ll buy more.

I think it is fine if he wants to stay in it to effect policy and the direction of the Party and Hillary. But to do that he is going to have to dramatically change his tone. The attacks on Hillary need to stop and he needs to stop sounding like a cranky old man yelling at me to get off his lawn or to slow down. ( I say this as a 67 year old cranky old man.)

Fuck him. An extra additive in getting me to the polling place on June 7.

Looking at how this guy spent (burned?) money on his campaign, I’m starting to think his inability to release his taxes has more to do with incompetence than malfeasance. In NY why did he spend so much money in heavily minority NYC and not blanket upstate? Why was keeping so much staff in states that already voted and not moved them to upcoming states? That’s the problem with being so much of an outsider, he didn’t get enough experienced hands. I wonder how he would have done if he cut down on staff, and instead donated to progressive local and down ballot politicians?

Are you on his email list? Do you mind me asking if you got a fundraiser email from him today?

Just another sign that he knows he lost, since he knows he doesn’t need staff for after the primaries, but i guess he wants to “win” California for face saving reasons.

What awful about this is that money determines how long a guy can run.

Left------right

Money rules.

You misunderstand socialism.

Methinks perhaps you hit the wrong reply button?

Hey you’re a lawyer, maybe he was trying to have one of them ex parte discussions.

Even the gentlest heathen snark against the All-Holy (and Mrs. All-Holy) shall not be tolerated.

Naw, not socialist. Capitalist. It sucks to be the 1% when you are downsizing.

Agreed. He needs to go do the happy warrior thing and continue to fight for his causes without attacking Clinton. That needs to cease immediately, and he needs to begin doing everything in his power to unite the party, particularly his voters, behind Clinton. If he does it and he fights like she fought for Barack, not only will he have considerable influence over the party platform, he’ll also have a great deal of power in the Senate and over the party, and he might possibly be looking at a cabinet position if he wants it. But it’s all up to him, and he has to start now.

That’s not Sanders’ problem. He’s got plenty of money. In fact, he’s been very much outspending HRC in several of the last dozen or so contests, including NY and PA.
