Discussion: Sanders To California Delegates: 'Easy To Boo' But Harder To Have Prez Trump

I am no fan of Sanders but at least he is finally doing the right thing, will be hard to reverse the course he led a bunch of people on though.

“It is easy to boo, but it’s harder to look your kids in the face who would be living under Donald Trump,” he said.

It would be easier to boo if there was something you thought it might accomplish except giving TRump and open canker sore Manifort talking points.

Okay, now this I’ll be grateful for!

Telling the dumber among his flock the hard truths.

Maybe now they’ll start to wise up… Please…

Would that be the same Sanders that vowed to fight all the way to the convention and then beyond even though he was mathematically eliminated?

Yes I see . Never mind

I am a fan of Bernie. (Voted for Hillary, but I like how he pulled the whole party left.)

I was afraid he would cling to some individual “victory” a la Cruz. And I worried when, in his speech, he looked forward to all his delegate votes.

But then, and since in the last 12 hours, he has been full-throated in his endorsement of Clinton, and his reasons why. I applaud his strong efforts to move his fans into Clinton supporters.

Good for Bernie.

Between last night’s speech and these kinds of statements, I hope everyone is now willing to bury the hatchet…together…in the GOP’s/Teatrolls’ faces.

What is wrong with taking the fight all the way to the convention? There are many examples in the past of contested conventions. The real issue is whether the party can achieve unity after the nominee has been selected.

I have never been more impressed with Senator Sanders than I have in the past few days. He had every right to be upset about the DNC emails, he made that known, and he moved on.

His die-hard supporters should follow suit. Stop saying how much you “trust” Bernie and yet not trusting him enough when he tells you to vote for CLinton.

Regrettably, in states like California, our miserable Electoral College system makes it easy to act as if your vote doesn’t matter. Because it very probably doesn’t. Mine either (Illinois). I would like to see the Progressive Revolution Faction put the abolition of the Electoral College on their list. It’s a worse blight on the landscape than Trump University IMHO. Those of us in reliably Republican or Democratic states are left trying to figure out how to influence things in Florida and Ohio.

He made them believe she can’t be trusted he’s going to have to fix that

It’ll be harder too when they pick up their participation trophies at the Stein or Johnson Campaign HQ. That and $27 won’t get them a seat at the table.

To say he’s “reversing course” is to remain within a primary race framework. He lost the primary, so now the choice is between a Clinton presidency and a Trump presidency. A Clinton presidency is obviously much more conducive to Sanders’ policy goals, and in fact the DNC platform has incorporated some of his specifics. Sanders supporters need to understand that it is not an all-or-nothing game, nor is it a one-round contest. You always choose the best of the available paths forward, understanding that they will almost always be flawed in some way. Your principles don’t change; it’s your effectiveness that varies depending on circumstances. You keep fighting with the tools available to you.

The abolition of the Electoral College is with out a doubt the most short sighted concept ever floated…

All nice for you in Illinois (sitting at #5 population wise but still 7 million less than the next state… Florida), but I don’t feel like tossing the decision of who our president is to New York, California, Texas, And Florida, and the rest of us just have to accept their choice

Unfortunately, I don’t think he CAN fix it. He can keep doing what he’s doing and move forward with the Dem platform he helped create. If they cannot see that and they cannot trust him (as they say they do…) that’s on them now. I’m not saying he didn’t foster this contempt and this situation, but he is trying to move on…it’s definitely frustrating but the petulance and disregard his die hards are displaying is infuriating.

Contested conventions happen when the race is close. This really wasn’t close at all. Obama’s led over Clinton was about 1/3 of Clinton’s lead over Sanders.

Glad to have Sen. Sanders trying to do the right thing here. But part of the problem is Sanders own actions during the primaries. The sloppy, careless and self-serving rhetoric of his campaign has mislead far too many people to the insane head-space that Clinton is no better than the fascist conman Trump. Then of course there is a subset of zealots who think that we have to destroy the village to “save it” by electing Trump.
Maybe Sanders can reach them on some level and talk them off the ledge and back into reality and we can work together to win, and move the country forward.

We shall see, but time is not on our side.

In any movement, there are always a few people who act as if they read the worst slanders and stereotypes that were written about them by their opponents and said, “That sounds really great! That’s how I want to be.” Naturally they then get all the press.

In the primary campaign, the unfair rap against the Sanders supporters was that they were white racist misogynists. False in the vast majority of cases. But now a few people who are ready to announce that they will vote for Trump along with all the racists and misogynists are going to get an insane amount of attention. (Just, btw, like the handful of white “PUMA” women got an insane amount of attention in 2008.) Note to these people: if you think you are making a Progressive Revolution, and then you get separated from most of the people you started with including your leadership and find yourself in the same movement with Nazis and Klan, you should turn around and retrace your steps. Seriously.

I think it’s not so much that the Bernie or Busters are stupid, it’s that they’re petulant emotional adolescents who are REALLY pissed that they didn’t get their way, and that anger at not getting their way has swamped whatever ideals they ever had. If they conduct the rest of their lives the way they are conducting themselves right now, they’ll go through life with the people around them just dying to kick their self-entitled little asses.
