runs to r/politics to count how many posts are calling him a sellout and Hillbot
At this point, any attack on Hillary from the left is effectively support for Drumpf.
When I was a young man, our nation was fighting a terrible war in southeast Asia. A folk singer of the time, Pete Seeger, wrote a song about the ever-worsening carnage and involvement-without-end. That song was “Waist Deep in the Big Muddy.” It is beginning to apply to my beloved Democratic Party. We are now knee deep in the big muddy.
How do we get out? The stakes are pretty high.
I sure hope he is right. The threat to the USA from proto-fascist Donald Trump so far outweighs any problems people might have with HRC that it is laughable.
Anyone who claims no difference between Clinton and Trump willfully has their head in the sand. The last thing we need is a messy convention.
It is the end of the world. I am very, very concerned.
Look, the only way that the superdelegates would not vote for HRC at this point is if she were to fail miserably in the remainder of the primaries. And I mean really fail, to a point that almost unimaginable. There will be no major controversy at the convention.
Merkley is either a bald-faced liar who thinks everybody else is stupid, or he’s absolutely clueless and gormless…
Has he talked to the campaign about this?
Thank you Senator Merkley. While I disagree with my Jr. Senator on our preferred candidate for POTUS I am glad he recognizes the toxicity of the direction Sanders campaign seems to be going, and understands that in the end we are on the same team. Something Sanders needs to be reminded of since he is not a big team player person given his m.o. and history.
He is neither. And your comment is over-the-top hyperbolic nonsense.
Top Sanders adviser Tad Devine was noncommittal when asked by the
Washington Post’s Greg Sargent whether the campaign would help convince
Sanders supporters that the election’s outcome was legitimate.
“We’re still involved in this process, so it’s hard for me to declare
what’s going to happen at the end,” Devine said. “As we look forward,
there are a lot of issues of deep concern.”
You’ve been saying the fix is in for months, so why should you admit your anything but a selfish destructive asshole now? Sanders voters eat it up, and keep sending in their $27TM donations because–WE COULD STILL WIN!
The anti-oligarch turns out to be the biggest oligarch of them all. Sanders is pushing for a small group of insiders to overturn the popular vote. Nothing could be more oligarchical than that.
Why not both?
Oh, I don’t think that’s fair. I think he’s quietly making it crystal clear to Sanders where the rubber meets the road and where his support will cease. I think thats what most Democrats with any influence are doing. They’re gently letting Sanders know how much longer he’ll be tolerated and what won’t be tolerated at the convention. I suspect if Sanders continues to attack Clinton and generally behave like a horse’s ass, it won’t be so gentle next time.
Devine: “As we look forward, there are a lot of issues of deep concern.”
There is actually only one issue of deep concern - that Bernie appears hellbent on taking down the entire Democratic party in his Trumpian effort to feed his ego.
Let’s hope that NV was an anomaly and chalk up the Sanders camp response and instigation of it was a poor and cynical calculation that the Sanders campaign recognized as wrong and will not repeat at the national convention. That they recognize the seriousness and wrong-headedness of their rhetoric and message that the party and the primaries were “rigged”. That the team and the party winning in Nov. trumps (pun noted) the idealistic yet off-target jihad against Clinton, the DNC and the Democratic Party.
Threatening emails and phone calls from Bernie Bros to Merkley in 5, 4, 3, 2, …
Your lips to the goddess’s ear, Plucky. I have an uncomfortable feeling that he’ll not heed their council, and will go into the convention with a burn-it-down for the Revolution mentality.
Seeger
I’m a bit frustrated that the Democratic Party didn’t see this coming. Hindsight is 20/20 but there were signs this could get nasty last fall. Now we have to deal with an irresponsible, increasingly conspiratorial and paranoid politician who’s auditioning for cult leader. I pretty much want to check out of this until 6/8. If anything goes down at the convention, he should be made a pariah, persona non grata in the caucus and primaried. End of story.
