Discussion: Sanders: 'Our Democracy is Being Owned by a Handful of Billionaires'

Its all about the repeal of Glass-Stegall

I’m not entirely sure that he hasn’t got a chance of winning the nomination. Hillary isn’t really exciting people. Most people are resigned to her victory, but remember, in 2008, they were resigned to her victory then too.

Sanders tends to excite people. And I love that he’s my Senator…voted for him too. And he’s got quite the credentials. . .Senator for eight years, US Representative for sixteen years, Mayor of Burlington for 8 years, and a student organizer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and a participant in the March on Washington.

He has a platform too…real policy. Read his 12 point plan

That he’s running is great. If the media will let us, we can have a coherent discussion about issues that matter for a change.

I’m with you, but I’m thinking anything that comes up in primary season may well be side dishes by the general, since it would be dull and boring once they have been dealt with factually.

Basically it will be a good time for Hillary to deal with things before the circus comes to town. Bernie can just be Bernie and he doesn’t need to do much of anything, since you know the media will push it anyway. Then they can discuss it on merits and it will be too dull to be an issue for later use.

True that. This is why Hillary needs to be primaried. It will make her hone her technique and define her message besides having to not stray from liberal principles for fear of Sanders and Warren.

And don’t forget Bill and Barack. These two titans will be major players, for slightly different reasons possibly but with the same goal. I will take them on my team any day and so will Hillary.
Hillary can help to repair some of the issues that occurred during Bill’s time and continue Obama’s legacy seamlessly. The experience on our side is unmatched.

He is pre-emptively defanging expected attacks about his “hypocrisy” in overlooking Hillary’s big-money backers (N.B. that we already have just such a one by Puppies above), and pre-emptively contrasting the admittedly large total of all contributions to Hillary’s campaign to the $$billions spent by single individuals on single candidates for selfishly singular reasons. Bernie can make these points more credibly than Hillary can, yet his umbrella can cover both of them.

In part, yes it is.

Don’t underestimate the ground support for Bernie. People seem to think he’s not electable because he’s not a moneyed candidate. To be perfectly honest, that’s the exact reason I think he IS electable! We’ve tied Democrats for President, and we’ve tried Republicans for President, and yet here we are, all of our problems getting worse by the minute. The status quo has repeatedly proven itself incapable of solving much of anything. Bernie has a very loud, and very powerful message that is profoundly different from any message anyone else can deliver. It’s a message that actually resonates with PEOPLE, as opposed to Citizen Corporations. I will support him, 100%. He’s got my vote!

No need…I’ve heard it from his own mouth in person

@Leftflank

Bernie was asked about it. He couldn’t say, “No comment.” That would have been a story. Again, it’s not his issue.

He’s got nothing to lose. If he runs a conventional cautious, over calculating campaign, there’s no reason for him to run at all. Bernie just has to do what he thinks is right and talk about what’s eating him and most of the rest of us. At the least, he’ll make people talk about it and explode the heads of people like Wolf Blitzer.

The worst thing he could do is to worry about his chances. He’s a man on a mission and that’s all that counts. He’s just got to play his own game and maybe he’ll spark a revolution.

I guess he needs to walk this tightrope? Hillary is Hillary and Sanders doesn’t need to explain her IMO. He is a hell of a strong ally for our side and that is how I view him. His detractors are Hillary’s detractors and they will try to stain him right along with her. I see no connection whatsoever.

In the end, Bernie, Elizabeth and Hillary will be a force to be reckoned with.

Fair enough, its basically a gotcha question. I agree 100% that he just needs to be Bernie and let the political circus pass him by.

This is the test that Hillary needs, from us, not the loons that talk Ben Ghazi and Faux reality. The ‘coronation’ story is just a part of that headline news desperation.
The left is so strong it almost hurts : )
