Discussion: Sanders: If I Responded To Everything Trump Said, I'd Spend My Whole Life Doing It

Heh, not only do they report everything he says, they divide one speech up into separate articles for every statement he makes instead of summarizing the whole thing in one piece. CLICKBAITCLICKBAITCLICKBAIT!!!

My boyfriend fell in love with Barney Frank with that one statement.

As are his followers. And the Republican base in general.

I think a large part of his appeal to many is his absolute refusal to play the media’s usual game.

And to call them out on their general bullshit, like he did at the debate. Love it!

Brilliant. Do you have a link for this?

TPM made gun control a central issue of their reporting long before Sanders ever thought about getting into the race. Their reporting on the issue is extremely important and has not a damn thing to do with Bernie Sanders or his candidacy no matter how badly conspiracy adled brains need to believe it.

I do think that the reporting of gun violence is what they do. It“s not to get Bernie, as they started in earnest to cover guns post-Sandy Hook, if I remember correctly. I think they“re just trying to underscore how much of an outlier the US is in this regard. But I do think that they milk the Trump coverage, as it“s a sort of a freak show that gets clicks. This coverage does keep, unfortunately, other issues and candidates off the page. But thanks to SNL, Bernie“s getting covered well today.

I just posted a link to Jalus’s comment on my Facebook page.

TPM is, for better or worse, focusing on the front-runners in both the Dem and GoP primaries.

Clinton is a solid twenty points up on Sanders — and that’s with Biden in the mix. Take Biden out and Clinton does better.

Clicks, my friend. Sticky-site ad dollars. Plus, it’s fun! : )

The amazing part about these corporate bankruptcies is that Trump actually touts them as proof of his business acumen, insisting they were all effectuated legally and simply allowed him to profit at the expense of his less savvy partners. Just good business, he says.

But when it comes to birthright citizenship – pregnant families that come to the US to have their children born as American citizens, in accordance with US law – then Trump is an angry, vitriol-hurling hypocrite. Those people are exploiting the law, whereas he only follows the law to his own benefit.

See the difference? No, me neither.

Found a link to the 9GAG photo: http://9gag.com/gag/agNjAb1

I am SO sharing this.

Irony: Trump accusing Sanders of being a Commie while selling schwag made in a Communist-run country, meanwhile Sanders is selling ā€œmade in Americaā€ schwag.

When Sanders was ahead TPM was NOT focusing on the front-runners. Now Clinton is ahead, they are – or has nothing changed; is TPM just focusing on Clinton regardless? Seems more likely. Biden gets more attention than Sanders and he isn’t even running. Besides, if you are going to talk about front-runners as a plural, as more than one, then Sanders should be getting a lot more attention. Without giving Sanders some respect, this whole primary is a joke. It’s just a kabuki dance to pretend it’s not a coronation for Clinton, and if another player seems like real competition, TPM will ignore them until they aren’t competition again.

Sanders was not, at any point in this election cycle, a front-runner. He was not, at any point, ahead of HRC.

I like Sanders. Sanders is a worthy underdog.

You’re welcome to your own opinions. But you don’t get to have your own facts. If magical thinking is your thing, try that other party over to the right.

He forces people to talk about things that are often ignored, and he doesn’t get dragged off-topic by stupid side-shows.

I don’t care how ā€œelectableā€ he is. He’s redefining the debate and he’s forcing the Democratic Party to address it’s relationship with corporate power. That’s good enough for me.

"and this is what passes for political journalism these days "

Let me fix that for you: ā€œand this is what passes for politics these days.ā€ They can’t report on substantive rhetoric if that rhetoric isn’t happening.
