Not to harp on this, but how much was tuition at that time?
He lost Iowa by 3 tenths of a percent and trounced Hillary by 20 points in NH. He lost Nevada by what? 6 percent is the latest I am hearing. Itās true, Senator Sanders has a tough fight to go. But to say āThats itā for him just by those 3 results, I think is just playing into the hands that want you to think exactly that.
My father once told me that my worrying about having health insurance to start a family was silly, as he and my mom had paid for my older sister“s birth out of pocket.
Oh, how much was that, dad?
$125.
My son“s birth cost 20K, dad.
He didn“t have much to say after that.
Well⦠do you think heās gonna come within 6 points of winning SC on 2/29? How about in Alabama,Georgia,Texas,Virginia,Tennessee or Oklahoma on 3/1?
Of the 4 early states,NH is the smallest one with the fewest delegates too. Do ya think Bernie spent more or less money than HRC in NV? Just some things to consider.
Degrees are nice. I have one. My wife has an LLM and a J.D. And after years of being unable to find work due to the terrible state of the US economy, we were forced to find jobs overseas. Lots of good a degree does ya.
If the US had the same distribution of income as it did the last time productivity gains were reflected in wage gains, every single wage earner in America would be making 45% more than they are today. Not only the minimum wage guy whoād be making $10.50 already, but the teacher making 50K should be making 72K. The movie star making 1mil should be making 1.45mil. The truth is America isnāt becoming a plutocracy, it already is one. The last 30 years have seen a tiny percentage of ultra wealthy steal billions from the paychecks of the entire country. I have no sense of community with the parasites in Wall Street, with their high speed trading and their million dollar a week incomes. Only rich people have enough these days to care about their 401ks, the rest of us are just getting screwed. So nope, not interested in some Horatio Alger lie about how hard word and getting a degree will make it all okay.
Iām aware. And thatās my point. I think the party made it clear that other candidates should stay out this cycle.
Joe and Liz do what they wanna.
Bernieās āconcessionā speech didn;t sound like a concession to me. It sounded like he is in it for the long run and in it to win it. Whether he can pull it off is another story. I just wish all the doom and gloom if either wins would stop. It is so silly. I think HRC will be a good president if we can at least take back the senate. If Bernie wins I think he would be a good president but neither of them is going to be able to move the ball with this republican house. I see Bernieās entire presidency writing executive orders and a constant barrage of media frenzy every day talking about the socialist
Oy vey iz mir. My parents did it the easy way, my grandmother delivered us at home. I remember when I was 16 I was having some tummy issues and the doctor wanted me in the hospital for tests. My father had no health insurance and the cost for a double room was $35.00 a day. I donāt know what the tests cost or what the doctor charged but I was jn hospital for 5 days.
Carpetbagger Bernie.
The not so shiny old thing is the shiny new thing. That shine doesnāt last forever.
President Obama being the major exception.
Same as my father, who, with an eighth grade education and a good factory job put all his sons thru college.
But that factory is gone; the jobs moved to Canada and the building torn down.
Who made the decision to export those jobs?
Youāre a fool if you think just working hard like your dad will do it anymore.
Carpetbagger probably applies to Hillary who moved to N.Y. to run for a safe Senate seat, canāt see any way the term applies to Bernie.
I do not like being called a fool as you know nothing of my circumstances. My father did not pay (nor could he afford to pay) for our college. My siblings and I, working often full time while going to school full time paid for our college. It was instilled in us that we were responsible for educating ourselves and there was little tolerance for not becoming more educated - not for financial gain but for responsible citizenship.
My complaint about Sanders however is his effort to work up the angry left with shallow catch phrases without giving detailed actionable solutions to the problem. At the rally of his I attended he flat out said he helped write the ACA the way it is written as congress would not in any form proceed with single payer and the he went on to whip up the grown on his single payer medicare for all plan, which by his statement moments before was not passable in congress.
One can make the argument with honesty and sincerity that many of Bernieās issues are genuine issues needing resolution. I would agree with most of those issues. I would not agree you solve them by promising the solution in generalities and un achievable goals. First the solutions are incremental, second as important as the president is (just look to the Supreme Court) unless we spend a whole lot more time ridding ourselves of the Republican Party (Grasley here in iowa has to be a priority) in the house and senate nothing will change"
