Okay, that was just a stupid question. I can give the Bern some credit for that response.
I am not a Sanders fan but that was a stupid questionā¦
And this particular reporter has been very favorable to Sanders is her coverage
Of course it was a stupid question, but the manner in which the response was given (ātestyā) is also revealing. Bernie has two competing temperamental phases. Asleep and choleric.
Isnāt Bernie always testy? How can you tell if it was the question that was asked or not!
Staying the the race through the end of primary schedule doesnāt sound sexist.
However. I kind of understand the question because of past behavior from the candidate.
When Sanders agreed to the Sanders-Trump debate, it was kinda gross for any number of reasons, but none more than the awful optics of it essentially being, āPardon us, little lady, but the men are talking now.ā The essence of privilege and misogyny and disrespect. Sanders had (has?) no route to the nomination but he was going to do something that (in modern history) only the nominee of a major party gets to do ā debate the nominee of the opposing party. Can you imagine if the situation was reversed and the Secretary did the same thing had Sanders been ahead? There would have been howls about that uppity woman not knowing her place.
Yes, this. Heās been acting full of shit, and we would say the same even if the front runner were a manā¦
Yea ā¦ Give Olā Bern a break on this one ā
Caught him off guard ā¦ He might of thought she said " sexy " ā
Something he hasnāt given a lot of thought to for years ā
Propsed Sanders Theme Song
ā¦Iām too testy for my shirt
Too testy for my shirt
So testy it hurts
And Iām too testy for Milan
Too testy for Milan,
New York and Japanā¦
Isnāt ātestyā a sexist term? Doesnāt that originate from ātestosteroneā? I always assumed that, but donāt know for sureā¦
I am going to bronze the responses to this article. I have accused of being sexist and racist so many times for being a Sanders supporter. This is exactly the correct response. Thank you.
Itās from the Latin, testa, meaning hard shell, like a clam. Hiw it got to mean crabby, is anyoneās guess.
Who are these critics that think itās sexist? Can you name them so I can make sure to avoid reading anything from them?
Sadly, not. OED says itās from Anglo Norman French origin, testif, originating from old French, teste, meaning head.
ETA and as @ralph_vonholst said upthread, originally from Latin, testa.
Sexism can only be aimed at a woman. Get with the program!
Also, is HRC anti-Semitic for continuing her campaign? Or is that a really stupid question?
Itās only fair that we call it stupid when itās just down right dumb. I think she undermines any legitimate argument many have about sexism in some of the Bernie supporters (visit Reddit if you want a horrifying look into some of that misogyny). That doesnāt do anyone any good.
This may be so, but Iāve never actually seen asleep Itās more like choleric and firehose. I consider that to be a feature, not a bug, but your mileage may vary.
This is unquestionably true. There are some seriously buttheaded supporters for every candidate. It just so happens that the Sanders ones are really computer literate. Iād be quite happy to let someone else have them.
