Discussion: Sanders Disavows Surrogate's 'Corporate Democratic Whores' Remark (VIDEO)

NO president accomplishes much without Congress.

Once again, your shallow “thinking” betrays you.

I guess you really do want to purge white voters from the Democratic party.

That’s the name of my thrash-ska bluegrass band.

Whoa. This thread really has most definitely taken a turn for the worse.

Tone it down there, Ron.

It isn’t shallow thinking. You Hillarybots and the Bernie Bros have lost sight of the importance of the congressional elections. Without Congress neither has a chance to do a thing. Neither is working real hard to elect congressional democrats. Bernie talks a good game, but he doesn’t actually do a thing. Hillary does more, but not nearly enough. Without Congress both campaigns are lying to us.

Actually she WAS mentioned. She is the only person who was mentioned. He said he was referring to congress, which was NOT mentioned. So there’s that.

And in terms of the rest of your Sanders not qualified stuff I am not quite getting your leaps and twists of reasoning there.

And please stop with the “faux outrage” BS. I am not outraged. I am not overreacting. I am calling you on sexist language. I am not screaming. My blood pressure is normal. This kind of statement is kind of, like, the patriarchy talking.

Ok by me.

No. You want to address my point?

What you wrote made me curious, did some Googling, and this HuffPo article tells me everything I need to know. For all his online presence he’s not at all well known elsewhere in the media. So I’m done with salon and it is the reason I installed an ad blocker, OMG the ads just piled up to the ceiling, so I’ve turned to slate which doesn’t like my ad blocker either.

Yeah they keep implying this way or that way that votes from the South count less, as if repeating the same crap makes it true.

I said this upthread, but god, Rosario Dawson is really, really full of shit. For her, even Dolores Huerta is an instrument of the corrupt establishment because of her support for Hillary. Infuriating.

No, I quoted from your own article and read it correctly. It states that Clinton leads Sanders by 18 points among those who identify as Democrats.

They aren’t. That is a separate break-out, as is the separate breakout of her leading margin of amount women. The full passage:

The voting groups that Clinton has relied on to dominate in primaries and caucuses continue to be her biggest advantage. She leads Sanders by 27 percentage points among voters over 35, by 18 points among those who identify as Democrats, and by 15 points among women.

C’mon, Mr. Byers, that kind of inflammatory straw man is beneath you. You know fully well that no Democrat wants to, or has proposed to, purge “every white” from the Party. Sheesh!

So telling me I am a corporate whore and a neoliberal corrupt sheep who needs to be woken up by the great and wonderful you is a good outreach method?

It most certainly is your shallow “thinking.”

And you’ve already been told about what the Congressional elections in November look like for Democrats. There is every possibility that the Senate will go Blue, and that the House will be less Red. If Trump or Cruz really fucks up—a distinct possibility—then control of the House might be in play, too.

You don’t listen to anything you’re told, because you’re too busy whining about your pre-conceived idea of what’s happening, facts be damned.

You remind me of a child on a long trip, continually asking “Are we there yet?” after you’ve been told time and again that the trip has only just begun.

You need to quit while you’re behind.

The rank and file turned up. That’s why they are called rank and file.

I will address your point, McConnell announced his plan to stiff the Obama appointment within hours of Scalia’s death. McConnell’s approach to Obama is obviously based on the racial hatred he shares with other Republicans. That is the only reasonable explanation for their “just say NO” approach to doing their job. How does Bernie being in or not in the race have anything to do with McConnell’s at least partially racially based hatred of Obama?

Let me clear something up for you. I wasn’t “crowing” about a boring candidate. I was making a point that, as a candidate capable of mobilizing people to participate in government and effect change, Sanders comes out way ahead and Clinton is not in the running

Nobody ever discusses Clinton in commentary anywhere as an inspirational candidate, or even an especially relatable candidate for voters. These are things that she has long struggled with.

But here it’s apparently forbidden to refer to any of this, so I mention it and the Clinton acolytes fly in all a flutter and attack the proposition, as if I’d physically attacked a member of their own personal anatomy, as if it were some wacked out opinion that only I, terrible Sanders supporter, could possibly hold. Bad Sanders supporter. Bad!

You know that’s absurd and over defensive as well as I do. Sanders is too old to be running. It’s a big deficit that I have to overlook to support him. But if you were to bring that up, I wouldn’t come at you on a tear and claim he isn’t pushing the envelope with his age. It is what it is.

ahhh how wrong huffpo clearly mentioned it… Rick Perry moment

Leaders have to lead. Somebody isn’t a leader if he doesn’t lead. In this case the somebody is each and every member of the DNC who sat on his or her ass instead of organizing turn out in 2010 and again in 2014.

I would argue that the Democratic failures in off year elections are the best examples of their refusal to organize beyond the Presidential years.

The lack of pushback on members of congress allows many of them to sit tight and go along with mcconnel. You’ll remember in the weeks after he first announced his position senators in close races distanced themselves from it. But since Democrats are so busy inflicting friendly fire on one another, many of those senators have slid back in line, hoping no one notices. Another hit on Obama’s legacy. Another sign of disrespect.
