Discussion: Sanders Disavows Surrogate's 'Corporate Democratic Whores' Remark (VIDEO)

Totally agree with your approach to this. The last thing Hillary needs is her followers to take the bait and start a party civil war, which would obviously play into the hands of a lot of Sanders supporters–who really would like to see the Democratic Party implode. Best thing is to be cool for another few days, avoid all inflammatory comment boards, and wait for the NY primary to play out.

BTW, I don’t agree that the dude’s apology is actually apologetic. I read it as a parody of an apology–exaggeratedly pro forma and not at all interested in withdrawing the sting of his insult. But whatever, the election isn’t about this stuff.

@ronbyers
I think that bears repeating. As far as national name recognition, the Democratic party is a geriatrics ward. So much for recruitment and development. And, while I’ll give the party a half pass in terms of what it stands for (they’re still far better for “the people” than the other side), Democrats don’t seem to be able to make their voters feel the love, resulting in disapproval numbers that stubbornly hover around 60% and up.

They need to stand taller, and if that’s all Sanders winds up making them do, it’s still a good thing.

Really? It is 2016, and I and my friends have been using the term man whore since the 1980s.

“Corporate whore” is a term that has been around for decades.

As I said, the overreaction is telling, so is the faux outrage. Where was Secretary Clinton mentioned? Or right she wasn’t, and if her name wasn’t mentioned, there is no way you can tie this to Sanders, unless you want to admit Secretary Clinton DID insinuate Senator Sanders wasn’t qualified.

But she didn’t specifically say that. So, why the double standard?

How sexist.

Give him a break - he’s too busy slamming Hillary for not releasing transcripts of speeches she gave while she was a PRIVATE CITIZEN. And Jane is too busy complaining about how undemocratic the voting process is to even be bothered by such a request.

Methinks the humble public servant has something mighty interesting to hide in them thar documents…

No, too many people afraid to meet with and convince people who don’t look like them that the Democratic party has room for them. You encounter them all over this comment thread.

Bullshit.
And it stinks on ice.

Here’s how Bernie “builds the party.”

He supports only candidates who have endorsed him—despite the fact that they are running in primaries against Democrats who have the support of their state and local parties.

So he wants to defeat Democrats in favor of can’t-win-the-general far-lefty candidates.

It’s just as we feared.
Bernie’s only concern is Bernie.

Well it really helped that the righteous liberal voters turned out to keep the Senate in 2010, right?

People like to be part of something big and important. People like to feel like they are big and important too.

I read her website and except for continuing Obama’s immigration orders, I don’t see much she can accomplish without Congress. It could be argued that the whole “achievable” narrative she advances is a fraud without a plan to take Congress.

I don’t need to look in this thread for proof. I can look at Bernie’s exit polls in any non lillywhite state.

Instead of ranting and raving about how the Democratic Party needs to rebuild itself to meet the entitled demands of affluent white hipsters, maybe you should set aside time to think about why people of color don’t trust your “movement” and don’t think you speak to their needs.

That’s right blame the rank and file. The current Democratic leadership never takes responsibility.

I noticed that too. Is that normal?

People used to use the term “retard” and “gay” too. But we think better of that now.

I am pretty sure if this primary weren’t such a side show there would be a lot more pressure being placed on the senate to act. I think the Garland nomination is a casualty of Sanders staying in the race.

Because minorities need affluent white hipsters just as much as affluent white hipsters need minorities. I find your use of racial identity politics disheartening. Why can’t we all be Americans?

If the Democratic party wants to purge every white then I don’t think it is any better than the Republican party which obviously wants to purge every black and member of the gay community. Please tell me that isn’t what you want.

I think Rosario Dawson and the guy from Run the Jewels have become the official "one black friend’ of all Bernie Bros. Of course, we have millions of people of color who have voiced their opinions too through the only way that really matters (the ballot blox), but since they’re not celebrities they don’t count.

You want to blame Sanders for the Zika virus too?

This whole comment speaks volumes as to why people of color aren’t joining your affluent white hipster movement. The sad part is, you don’t even realize why.

Hmm…isn’t the alternative for us to be Naderized? Bernie has plenty of support to run (and lose) as a 3rd-party candidate. And on President Trump’s inauguration day, we’d all be saying gee, we should have let him run in our primary (as we’re doing), handed him a defeat (as we’re doing), and then yanked him deep into the fold going into the general (which may be a struggle) because, you know, he is actually in favor of policies most of us would probably be OK with.

Bernie’s campaign has taken a bad turn, but he’s not Democrats’ or progressives’ enemy. People need some damn perspective.
