Discussion: Sanders Disavows Surrogate's 'Corporate Democratic Whores' Remark (VIDEO)

No worries, because Sanders will NEVER be the Democratic nominee.

The party is doing exactly that.
It just isn’t sexy enough to get much media coverage.

And thanks for proving me correct when I said that your thinking is deeply superficial.

Ummm, no, it’s not. Younger liberals will be brought into the fold as well. I see no “comeuppance” for the “establishment”. Rather, the party will adapt and hopefully become more responsive. It’s not the same as the GOP, and I don’t foresee the sort of schism forming for the Dems as there is for the GOP. Besides, if you don’t like the Dem “establishment” why would you feel so powerfully that you need to overthrow them or whatever? Just make your own party for all the other self-righteous liberals on Team Unicorn
if you’re so right and popular, then there’s no need to supplant the “establishment” and take over their party. You’ll have your own in no time and everyone will agree with you and the Dem party will slowly wither away, right? Especially after you win all those elections without them, eh?

Then I suggest that you no longer associate with those weak and inconsequential Democrats and align yourself with a winning party like the Greens.
They’ve sure built a broad coalition and taken a lot of local elected positions, haven’t they?

All you do is complain.
That makes you a more-than-typical Bernie follower.

It also makes people ignore your fatuous twaddle.
So keep it up.

Thank you. I was both, and started a couple of political clubs back in the 80s and 90s. I contribute to my local candidates, I worked for the Bill Clinton campaign and after he was elected Hillarycare. Then I watched as the local party was drained of all resources. Every presidential cycle somebody like Obama will try to organize around here but they disappear as soon as the election is over.

We used to elect Democratic congressmen and women in my neck of the woods. We also used to elect Democrats to the state legislature. Those guys and gals all lost years ago.

National democrats want all the money to be funneled to their ad makers and their favored 19 states. .

Understood it perfectly, champ. You said “anybody but Sanders” and didn’t mention what you’d be doing in reference to the POTUS race if he won, so I asked you.

But you, and a whole lot of people like you (including Clinton herself) have made it very very plain that getting a little of what we’re working for, for EVERYONE, is the absolute best we can hope for, and that anything we DO get will come with a heartfelt “screw you!” attached to it.

Get off the f’ing cross. The Berniacs aren’t changing civilization on their own.

You aren’t working for EVERYONE; there are some groups who don’t want your brand of “revolution” and aren’t grateful to you at all. You’re working for angry White people who just now realize they’re being shafted. You’re angry? Fine, do it yourself.

Why don’t YOU get off your ass and make the damn revolution you so desperately think is necessary happen.

I think you have to take him at his word that he can’t accomplish anything, that it will be the people who stand up that will effect change. It’s classic Alinsky and the political theory is sound. Bottom up is how change happens, always has.

But you’re on the money that it’s not going to be quick. Legislation won’t happen till at least past the next midterms and possibly not until after the 2020 General. It will take at least that long to begin to change the complexion of Congress, and I fear it is true that a lot of Sanders supporters don’t understand what’s involved.

But a lot of us do. Plus we also understand that Congress won’t change without someone constantly pointing out that it absolutely must change, without mobilizing voters to demand change.

And Clinton can’t do that. She’s not inspirational, never has been and never will be.

Beyond that, thanks for your wonderful stream of comments here. Nice to read someone who isn’t speaking from the bunker.

No I still have faith in rank and file Democrats and the organizing principles of the Democratic party. I have just lost faith in the self serving leadership of the Democratic party housed in the DNC.

I even like Hillary. I just wish she was running for President to accomplish something other than being the first woman President.

And she is—but your severe political myopia won’t let you see it.

I know right? He used offensive, salty language he should never have gone anywhere near, but take a step back and let’s be real. He expressed something that, before today, I thought we were all on board with: some of these Dems are enablers and appeasers and have been bought, which results in us frequently facepalming ourselves and wondering why they didn’t fight harder about this or that or the next thing (particularly, for me, in terms of the messaging game, which they consistently lose like chumps). I lost count of how many times I’ve ranted about that on TPM. It’s another example of Bernie’s campaign taking something we all agree with or can get on board with and turning it into something divisive because it went too far
sort of like the long-term goals being promised in the short-term.

Yep, Goodman was a Paulite before he became a Berniebot (or more accurately, a Hillary hater). He’s one of those people who make me feel ashamed about supporting Sen. Sanders.

Meh
I’ve decided ron is just trolling at this point. He’s consistently using arguments and words designed to offend, rather than make a point.

Exactly. Much like their Dear Leader is doing, they latch onto the Dem Party because any pure Third Party has proven to be the butt of several jokes. Then, also like their Leader, they start pissing in the tent as opposed to out of it.

“Bernie should have taken Dr. Song to task the moment he took the stage to begin his stump speech.”

Agree, just like Obama did when intemperate noises came from his audience.

Remember, “Don’t boo – vote.” ?

No, that’s not the way it works. Voters will mobilize to change WHEN THEY ARE READY not because someone constantly points out that change must occur. Harping, nagging, screaming - none of that is what brings about change.

Think what you want, but I could be really offensive it I wanted to be offensive.

I do think it is the job of very Democrat to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. Maybe I am wrong. That might be the job of a newspaper.

Make it three. I confess to having been the same naiveté. I thought running within the framework of the party would put reasonable constraints on any TP-like nonsense
how wrong I was, lesson not learned from the other side.

Your opinion. I find her to be very inspirational, because she’s smart as a whip, hard-working, and cares deeply about people.

I guess we’ll see, won’t we.

I forget if it was LBJ or Sam Rayburn who said something along the lines of “Son, if you can’t take their money, drink their bourbon, screw their whores, and then vote against them the next morning, you don’t belong in politics.”
