Discussion: Sanders: Clinton 'Trying To Frighten' People Into Thinking They'd Lose Healthcare

Discussion for article #247026

Bernie is sounding increasingly unhinged. I’m ready for him to go spittle on someone else. I used to really like him, but his ego is causing him to be a real spoiler and we don’t have that luxury.

As opposed to you, Bernie, claiming you will expand health care.

Were you around the last six or seven years?

Didn’t exactly answer the man’s question did he?

Looks to me that he’s right. Clinton has been trying to scare people.

I’m glad we have the ACA. But its shortcomings are major. We still have 20-30 million uncovered people and our drug costs are still prohibitive.

Bernie needs to fight for something better. If he has to go through and over Clinton to do so then that is what needs done.

There’s a crazy little thing called the House. And they’re not buying into anything the Dems propose wrt healthcare.

Through and over Clinton?!!!

Oh, wow. Try the republican Congress, Martin. Hillary began the fight for affordable health care. They crucified her.

Wow, seriously? How did he even get in a word edgewise with her constant interruptions and compulsive need to have the “last word” on every topic?

But seriously, this isn’t surprising – Hillary’s messaging is all about fear, just like all the other Republicans. That’s how she’s managed to get the middle class to support her, despite the fact that she’s a Wall Street shill.

You do know its a town hall right? Where only 1 of them was being asked questions at a time.

A doctor asked Sanders at the town hall how he’d be able to “make the leap” from “Obamacare” to his own healthcare plan.

No.

Shorter Outline of this type of interaction with Bernie:

Reporter: Sen Sanders how do you propose to accomplish what you promised to do?

Sanders: I haven’t a clue but let me tell you what Hillary is doing wrong this time.

Get a grip.

I was wrong. She decided to attend after initially declining the invitation.

He didn’t answer the man’s question.

Yeah, what could happen if the ACA is handed back to Congress? They’ve only voted to repeal it 64 times.

Bernie is so hung up on about 3 things - according to Barney Frank, he almost made the ACA fail in Congress by insisting on single payer then. He knows it wouldn’t pass so WTF is going to be different if he is elected? He claims activists outside of Mitch McConnell’s window will make the difference. Really? There were thousands of us bothering Congress when the ACA was being hammered out. It didn’t make much difference then.

I know that Hillary supporters are gonna lash out at me for this, but he has a freaking point. She shouldn’t be doing that…she already has enough of an honesty problem.

Meh. She’s pretty much dropped that line of attack anyway, at least from what I’ve seen (or rather, not seen) recently.

I’ll have to watch the exchange, but if that was the extent of the answer, it may have been a smart one politically, but it wasn’t really an answer to the question.

I can’t believe I’m getting Faux News in without it going out on me like it usually does due to bad transmission. I missed most of Sanders portion, but watching Clinton was great. She was particularly good rebutting Brett Bare’s bullshit trying to go after her over the email crap…which in reality, is no concern of any Democratic participant at that townhall I would guess. That is solely the obsession of Faux News, the RNC and Republicans. When they turned to the mostly Democratic audience the questions were good and she answered them completely.

O honestly - her message has turned up the love and kindness. Love Trumps Hate. I even have the sticker. I have never heard one thing out of her about fear. However, I feat letting Congress have another go at the healthcare law and that’s the only way we’d get single payer, from Congress, and they’ve voted to repeal healthcare over 60 times.

Hillary has a big fat point

It’s not Hillary that’s being dishonest.

Not really. Both she and Bernie would have the same veto pen, neither she nor Bernie can prevent Congress from continue to try repealing, and she’s trying to have it both ways by both claiming she would avoid a fight on health care, and also claiming she’d expand Obamacare and achieve universal coverage (which wouldn’t happen without a huge fight).

She has good points to make on health care, but this isn’t one of them.
