Discussion: Sanders: Clinton On Her Worst Day Is An 'Infinitely Better Candidate' Than Any GOPer

Discussion for article #242630

Funny how he didn’t attack her?!

Oh wait, they’re Democrats, my bad.

Between this and the “sick of your damned emails” comment–can you imagine a Republican candidate being this gracious to an opponent?

This is a gracious thing for a candidate to say. That it’s the goddamn truth makes it that much more admirable.

I just wish that both Sanders and Clinton supporters would all recognize that it’s true about both Bernie and Hillary—regardless of what your opinion of them are, the notion that either one is not galactically better than any Republican is asinine. For me, the only determinant of which candidate I support is which one is better able to defeat the GOP in 2016.

This will put the “Hillary is no different from a Republican” contingent on Daily Kos in an interesting position.

Republican candidates are to Clinton, as Clinton is to _______.

Discuss.

Oh, I kid, mostly. It´s just that I heard Sanders talking about democratic socialism with Steve Inskeep on NPR, and I thought, why is it that normal acknowledgement of the socialist aspects of the government that we already enjoy are as unmentionable as Victorian era sex? Why is it that we have to begin every political conversation with a paean to the glories of the free market? Sanders is doing the Lord´s work here in expanding the realm of the possible political discourse in this country, and for that he has my thanks. Hillary, OTOH, will not win any ¨profiles in courage¨ award from me.

On a few issues, she’s not infinitely better, and Kasich (and if he counts Pataki) is probably at least someone I can live with, but the basic point is right. I rather someone else, to be honest, but she is quite qualified to be President and not someone who makes me nauseous. Taken as a whole, the candidates on the other side do.

I’ll rephrase it this way: “Republican candidates are to Clinton as Jeffrey Dahmer is to Anthony Bourdain.”

Well put, @bluestatedon. “Hillary is no different from a Republican” = “Gore is no different from Bush”

Whether they admit it or not, most folks who voted for Nader in 2000 realize they made a colossal mistake.

Oh, never mind.

If anyone had any doubt as to who Bernie would like his supporters to vote for in the general if Hillary wins the nomination, this should remove all doubt.

Haven’t seen too many people here on TPM saying that they’ll vote for Bernie but will not vote for Hillary in the general if she wins the nomination. Someone mentioned they were seeing a troubling amount of that kind of talk on the comment threads over at HuffPost, Daily Kos and elsewhere. The best rebuttal to that will be to quote this statement from Bernie. Bernie just told them, straight up, that Hillary is not just better, but “infinitely better” than any of the GOPers.

I’m developing less patience for modern liberals than for tea baggers. modern liberals talk crap about how baggers behave, then mimic their behavior toward their fellow Dems.

If you saw Maddow’s Candidates’ Forum you’ll remember something Clinton said which made me laugh, and I’m paraphrasing. She was asked if there was a R contestant whom she’d want as a running mate, she said she wouldn’t answer because that would get someone in trouble (“What, Hillary the Murderer endorses (fill in the blank?)” But she did say there were Rs she might select but just not one of them. That shows how quick on her feet she is and a master of debating which will only become more obvious when she becomes the nominee…

"Let’s send a powerful message that we have had ENOUGH of the billionaire class buying elections. If we stand together to fight back against these ugly attacks, we can ensure this election is about who has the best ideas, and not who has the biggest donors.” -BERNIE SANDERS-

Virtually every thread about Clinton will contain a number of “Hillary is no better than a Republican and I’ll never vote for her” comments. Makes my goddamn blood boil, since these people are saying that they don’t care that a Republican President will nominate Supreme Court justices who want to take my own daughter’s reproductive rights away from her.

As a Nader voter I wholeheartedly agree.

Cracked me up too. I bet she was thinking, “I’d pick Lincoln, Eisenhower,…”

The notion that “Hillary is no different from a Republican” reveals so much more about the silly person touting that nonsense than it does HRC.

Yep, makes my head explode. I don’t believe there are too many folks who follow politics who would make such a stupid comment. Some of those folks could also be trolls

Not only don’t they care about reproductive rights, but it also betrays their apathy toward women’s rights in general, LGMT equality, voting rights, immigration, minority issues, climate change, etc.

I don´t read Daily Kos much, but on this site, I can not recall a single poster saying that.

I can, and several. I’ve also seen it countless times on Twitter.
