Discussion for article #237629
An excellent and honest statement and analysis of our nation by a wonderful man.
Are we still waiting for Hillary to issue more than one single tweet on Twitter?
Is Bernie the first to mention racism?
Ya know. If it wasnât for all those black people, the kid never would have shot anyone.
Really? Youâre trying to turn this into a political one-upmanship contest? Christ, get off your high horse and treat this tragedy with the gravitas it deserves. Itâs people like you and your attitude that turn people away from Sen Sanders.
Nice statement.
Interestingly enough, only a few days from his statements on how the US had âovercome racismâ by electing a black president. I mean, if weâre going to spend the time pointing out that HRC has only made ONE statement on thisâŚthen yes, letâs go there.
sucks teeth
(I believe heâs sincere, but heâs not the savior people make him out to beâŚso they should stop trying)
Offered without commentâŚ
Spoken like a true Hillary fan, I asked a question and you get all huffy and insulting. Iâm glad I struck a defensive nerve.
That, to me, is beyond disgusting. BEYOND.
I am sincerely incapable of having any more layers of embarrassment at my race any more. That barrel is full to overflowing at the tone-deaf ignorance.
Sandersâ Statement on the Charleston Church Killings
Link to actual video of his statement.
Did I hear him say âamenâ at the end? Just curious. Also, what is Bernieâs position on gun control? Guess I should look it up, but if anybody happens to know âŚ
Shine a light on that shit.
TPM:
Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Thursday condemned the shooting at a historically black church in Charleston, S.C. as a âtragic reminder of the ugly stain of racismâ tainting America.
B-b-but, I thought this was an attack on Christians - that it was a reminder of the ugly stain of pervasive, historically well-documented, American anti-Christianity and anti-religious-freedomism! Thatâs what Rick Santorum and Fox News told me!
Thatâs disgusting. I wasnât born in the South but now live in SC. The racism here makes me sick to my stomach. Since I am white and middle aged most of these people believe I think like they do. So, they have no issue making their racist comments to me. The sad thing is, they donât even get that they are racsists.
Racism terrorizes and kills many Americans. Yet some pretend that there is no racism, and give racism further refuge.

Get off your high horse. Youâre âquestionâ was nothing more than a very thinly veiled attempt at saying âhey, our guy gave a statement, but Hillary only sent a tweetâ. It was sanctimonious bullshit and a feeble attempt to put politics above what happened. This sanctimonious, pretentious attitude is why I canât, and wonât, support Bernie Sanders: I have no wish to associated with assholes who will use a tragedy to play political one-upmanship. You claim you were just asking a question, when the entire tenor of your post was a snide âour guy said something but Hillary only gave a tweetâ without realizing the fact she might/did say something substantial about what happened, but, since she didnât run to the nearest media outlet, you think your snide, insensitive, pretentious point of view should trump what happened.
Then, thereâs the accusation that because I disagreed with you, that Iâm a blind Hillary supporter, because from your nose bleeding outlook, anyone who disagrees with you must be against Sen Sanders. Newsflash, I agree with most of Sen Sanders views, but a few questions:
- Why has he consistently voted against gun control?
- Why is it that if I disagree with one platform Sen. Sanders on one point, does it me make a blind SecState Clintonâs follower?
The biggest obstacle Sen. Sanderâs has right now is self righteous people like you. I would whole heartedly support Sen. Sanders campaign, but have absolutely no wish to associate myself with self centered, sanctimonious, pretentious pricks like you. Congratulations, you just drove away a possible vote for Sanders because I canât stand the nose down looking attitude of his most ardent supporters like you. Christ, just look at all the threads on this site where Sanders supporters are gleefully, and morbidly, celebrating that Sanders gave a statement instead of a tweet.
Oh, my bad, in a speech she gave later that day, she reference racism and guns. You, and your kind, are just as bad as Republicans in trying deflect this tragedy into some sort of political exercise. For Christâs, let the fucking campaigns stop for at least day before you start crowing about who said what (which was pretty much decimated by her speech tonight).
That site isnât very well organized. Hereâs one that lays it out much clearer:

I too am a pretentious prick who supports Bernie Sanders. You have anger management issues.
Hillary has issued an extensive statement condemning this act and calling for a renewed push for gun control.
Not surprising that Sanders didnât mention guns, since heâs to the right of most progressives on gun control efforts, having voted against the Brady Bill and other modest attempts at curbing gun violence. Gun violence is a serious issue affecting poor and minority communities.
