Let the gnashing of teeth and shrieking begin!
Iâd vote for that.
But then again, Iâll vote for whoever has a âDâ after their name.
I know the odds of Hillary getting two terms and then being followed by her VP are pretty slim, but you really want a Veep who has a shot at running in 8 years. Bernie is simply too old to do so.
Also, we need Bernie out in public advocating for these issues and keeping them alive. If he becomes the VP candidate he has to toe the line and shut up about things she doesnât want to address.
Oh dear!
Someone has already arrived at the âBargainingâ stageâŚAcceptance isnât too far away.
Though I suspect he is going to be gagged by the Sanders campaign to prevent him from publicly making anymore statements.
As much as I like Bernie and greatly admire his campaign and message, I think Julian Castro would make a better VP. Heâs young and personable, would be galvanizing for the Hispanic part of the Democratic base, would be history-making in his own way as the first Hispanic on a presidential ticket, has a record of achievement as mayor of San Antonio and HUD Secretary, and would be a great foil to the nativism of Trump or the dourness of Cruz.
Isnât always the losers campaign that âsuggestsâ a combo ticket?
Agreed!
i like the idea; bernie the dem nominee and clinton his VP!!
Supporters, yesâŚbut coming from someone on the actual campaign staff, not so much.
Because it comes across as begging and is an admittance of defeat. The victor chooses who their running mate is going to be, not the loser.
Even when Reagan chose Bush, it wasnât because of the Bush camp pleading to be on the ticket. It was because Reagan, as the clear leader of the conservative wing, wanted to show a sign of party unity.
And Nancyâs astrologer said it was the thing to do.

[/quote] Yes, but Iâm glad to hear the Sanders campaign putting it out there. Step one towards letting their supporters down easy and unifying the party.
Castro is THE pick for her, hands down. In 2016, for the reasons you listed, and to position the party for 2024.
Oh great. The Bernie Bros will be mad when either it isnât A) a Sanders-Clinton ticket or B) he doesnât get the offer.
âHe wouldnât ever think about a decision like that unless it was done in the right and proper way,â Devine said.
Sanders will never have to think about such a decision because heâll never be asked. HRC really only needs three things in a running mate (youth, color, and someone who can excite the base). Sanders could possibly only provide one of those things, possibly. Nobody fits the bill better than Castro.
What Bernie is really advocating is a rebirth of the Democratic party. That work is impossible if his is a Veep. I think we need to look at somebody fresh.
A convert!! Yay!
I think you are right. I would further say youth and color (read: Hispanic) are the key addition to any Democratic ticket.
Just think how a Hillary/Bernie ticket would fare against a Trump/Cruz or Cruz/Rubio ticket?
I would pay money to see Bernie debate Rubio. Cruz on the other hand would make Bernie pop a vein when he accuses Bernie of being a âJews killed Christ/Communist Islamist Terroristâ (in so many words.)
Sure would be fun to watch however.
ha, yeah thatâs definitely âoff messageâ - and never going to happen. what was he thinking?
ââI donât know. Maybe theyâre going to put him on the ticket then,â Devine told Politico as he laughed.â
Just the thought is nauseating. Poor Bill.
