Discussion: Sanders Campaign Files Paperwork To Sue DNC Just Before Deadline

Cue the wailing and gnashing of teeth. How dare you, sir?

Meh. Deadlines are deadlines. Can’t resolve a dispute if you let it resolve itself by failing to preserve the claim.

So let’s see: Sanders campaign was the one who “inappropriately” accessed the confidential data and had a staffer fired as a result yet is the one filing a lawsuit. And this is supposed to “signal the desire for an amicable resolution”? No, this sort of action is precisely what Trump does…lawsuits. Wow, this might be a new low for Sanders after his reprehensible and directly insulting to the majority of voters “You are a progressive or you are not!”.

DNC spokesman Mark Paustenbach said that "both sides are continuing to work amicably to resolve all legal issues. and look forward to resolving this matter.”

Sanders campaign was given a deadline of 17 March to serve the DNC with papers by the court. This is a procedural step - not red hot breaking news.

Going ahead with legal action about this is a very poor decision, one that makes me question the judgment of both Sanders and the people around him.

To keep the Government out of the hands of the RWNJ’s, the party is going to need to be united. Standard primary election battle stuff is fine, and healthy. But this kind of “inside baseball” dispute is out of place. If Sanders has a beef with the DNC, the solution is for him to get the nomination, win the White House, and do his own housecleaning at the DNC. Filing a lawsuit over it is manifestly not the solution.

Yeah, I know this is just a procedural deadline. But they should have dropped the entire matter by now, and moved on.

This is such a dishonest play for more fundraising from his under-informed base.

Let the incessant whining of the sycophants allied with the payday lenders’ best friend, game-rigger, and all around incompetent head of the DNC Debbie Wasserman-Schultz increase at every attempt to shed a light on how this game was rigged from the beginning. Can’t have truth when party is put above principle.

As if one who puts the party machine over principle is any judge of what constitutes well informed. Oh, how will I ever sleep tonight after that tsunami of incisive critique?

I’m glad you Clintonistas have this general election covered in November without the help of Sanders’ supporters. Of course, should she lose, you’ll be blaming everyone else but yourselves.

So please proceed, Senator. You’re doing a heckuva job.

One campaign illegally accessed the voter data of another’s. That’s what this all comes down to. That the guilty party suddenly feigns persecution is nothing but ridiculous.

As I understand it the voter data is not Clinton’s. It’s the DNCs. The DNC was the body that decided to “punish” one of their candidates without even a hearing as far as we know. But given the bias built in to what should be a neutral party in the primary but is anything but, I can understand how one might confuse Clinton with the DNC.

So no, that’s NOT what this all comes down to. What this comes down to is rigging the game for the big money controlling the party.

Where have we seen that tactic before? Let me think…

You need to really educate yourself on what actually happened.

Sorry, but you understand wrong. The Clinton voter data was proprietary, owned by the Clinton campaign, not the DNC.

The DNC maintains the master list and rents it to national and state campaigns, which then add their own, proprietary information gathered by field workers and volunteers. - Washington Post, Dec. 18. 2015

Asshole.

He might have had a point or two starting out, but he’s turned into all ego. And into an asshole.

How much harm will he do to the party (of which, remember, he’s not a member) before the convention (or, more likely, through election day)?

I’m not an attorney so I’m ignorant of how these things normally proceed, but I guess I don’t understand why this is even still a legal issue. The denial of access was temporary, and was restored quite a while ago. Is the Sanders campaign suing for monetary damages? Are they after a formal apology from the DNC? What’s the end game here?

I understand this was “procedural,” based on a deadline by the court – but this should have already been resolved amicably. Honestly, this does not make me believe that things were moving along amicably. It shouldn’t have taken months if things had been running along smoothly. I wish Sanders’ campaign had not taken this move.

The end game is to keep his naive supporters aroused. And to weaken Hillary indirectly. And to harm the Democratic Party (which, we should all recall, he’s always disdained joining).

No, but just like Republicans across the country know they are losing in multiple ways and so are getting all their anti-abortion and anti-LGBT laws passed…Bernie’s campaign is showing all signs of desperation, as well. Bernie’s non-compromising positions, his anger, and his threats to Hillary about what he expects for his endorsement show clearly that he is just the opposite side of the coin of Trump/Cruz…i.e. not very democratic at all. Therein lies the problem. Bernie and his supporters will more than likely give us a President Trump.

This is a non-story, not that it will stop many from claiming Sanders is the dirtiest politician in recent memory despite running arguably the friendliest and most issues-oriented campaign since the practice was created.
