Discussion: Sanders Camp Says They Hope To Win Nomination At Convention

Wow, this really smells of an overt attempt to blur the GOP storyline with that of the Democrats in an effort to minimize damage to the already brain-dead GOP and harm any Democratic nominee…

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook suggested that Sanders’ strategy “relies on overturning the will of the voters,” arguing that Clinton has won a higher percentage of the popular vote and a majority of pledged delegates.

Sort of depressing to hear the Clinton campaign borrowing a whine from The Donald.

Kasich said an open convention would be fun and now everyone wants one!

But seriously, this is tiresome. What are the chances each candidate could get to the nomination without needing any superdelegates?

Sort of depressing to hear that the losing candidate for the nomination is going to try to rig the system for him to win at the Convention even though he will not have won a majority or plurality of the popular vote or pledged delegates.

Bernie, you can’t even explain how you would make your signature policies happen. How are you going to take all the super delegates? I think this is more unicorns and rainbows and I wish you’d grow up and do the right thing. Hillary is way ahead of you.

Bernie, you act like this and you are the left’s answer to Drumpf.

It’s a meaningless test in any case. Unless the Clinton campaign falls apart completely over the next few months, she will get a large majority of superdelegate votes.

On the other hand (hey, I’m an economist!) just what is Bernie’s campaign supposed to say? Something like “looks like it’s all over but the shouting - we’ve got no chance at all of winning this thing, no matter what happens”?

Sanders is on my last nerve like a dirty diaper on a baby!

Why exactly would delegates throw their votes to him? Why? If she’s won a majority of Democratic primary voters and pledged delegates, I’m not understanding why delegates would support a candidate who was only a Democrat in the past 12 mos. AND who isn’t helping to raise money for their down ballot candidates?

If voting continues the way it has, then Clinton will go into the convention with more votes than Sanders. Many of the super delegates who, according to Wikipedia, These Democratic Party superdelegates include distinguished party leaders, and elected officials, including all Democratic members of the House and Senate and sitting Democratic governors Sanders has already said that he’s not sure he’ll work to elect people down ballot. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t “we’ll see”. This is not exactly a way to entice people who want, need and expect the head of the ticket to help them get re-elected. Clinton is already raising money for down ballot offices. Why on earth should the superdelegates vote for someone who earned less votes and less delegates AND who won’t help them get re-elected.That doesn’t make sense. If Sanders wins the nomination, then they will support him, if he doesn’t then they don’t have much reason to throw their support his way.

You said this so much more concisely than I did.

A convention of a party he really isn’t a member of.

It’s almost as if Sanders wants to weaken the Democratic nominee in order to unleash the disaster that the Repug candidate would create, if elected, so that his extremist agenda has a better shot of winning some time in the future.

Great idea, Sanders! Nothing like a fractured Democratic convention, sure to draw laser media focus, taking it off the GOP shit show parade of a convention!

Clinton has more delegates and more votes. And will have. This argument falls apart on the merits.

But Weaver has to continue that grift campaign. All those $27 donations would dry up, otherwise.

In the last week, I’ve become very comfortable with saying that his campaign has outlived its usefulness. If this is going to be how he’s going to run from here on out- with this asinine, delusional strategy, coupled with insanely privileged surrogates taking shots at the president, black voters and other Democrats- then he needs to shut this shit down.

Some days I wonder whether Sanders & Co. aren’t a bunch a GOP agents provacateur working to aid whoever gets the Republican nomination – they’re sure as hell not doing anything to aid any Democrats.

Has anyone at TPM even paid attention to what happened in France after they elected their socialist Prez? He jacks the top tax rate to 75% (soak the rich), and the results were predictable. Velocity of money plummets, millionaires leave or threaten to leave. He declares an economic emergency last year and very sheepishly had to reverse his tax policy. Let’s learn the lessons from history here and move on from the Sanders utopian pipe dream. Socialism is an arcane relic that belongs in a museum alongside it’s more radical cousin, Marx!

It is fascinating that for months the Bernie Bros have been wailing about superdelagates, calling them undemocratic, implying they were part of a shady scheme designed to help Hillary (even though they have been around as part of the process for decades) - but now hinting they might use them to overturn the popular vote of the Democratic electorate.

Then again, for a guy who hasn’t released his tax returns (and can you imagine the outcry if Hilary hadn’t?) this is no biggie.
