Discussion: Sanders Camp Says He'll Remain A Democrat After 2016 Election

Wow. Why the change, Bernie?

Because during the campaign he“s heard so many nice things said about him by Democratic insiders .

ā€œWell, he is a Democrat.
He’s said he’s a Democrat, and he’s gonna be
supporting the Democratic nominee, whoever that is,ā€ Weaver responded.
And when asked of (sic) Sanders was now a ā€œDemocrat for life,ā€ Weaver said, ā€œYes, he is.ā€

Somebody had his attitude reset manually since Tuesday night.
Sen Sanders seems to have recognized the ā€˜point-of-no-return’ his campaign managers were fast approaching.

Did Weaver remember to tell Sanders that?

Funny. I still show him as (I - Vermont)

Until I hear Bernie Sanders proclaim that himself, I don’t believe it. Seriously.

Don’t hold your breath BC.
It’s been part and parcel of the Sanders campaign for his mouthpieces to do almost all of the PR talk.

Though I’m thinking Sen Sanders may have finally pierced the insular campaign bubble of the last few weeks–
finally grabbing the steering wheel back from his former-chauffeur.

I hope you’re right–but, no, I’m not holding my breath anymore with Sen. Sanders.

Maybe Bernie has learned it is not always a bad thing to be on a team and not just on the sidelines complaining. (His old true socialist friends in Vermont won’t have anything to do with him now anyway.) The change from independent to Democrat also might give pause to a number of his younger followers. I know of more than a few young Bernie worshipers who are registered as Republican that were complaining this past week on Facebook that they could not vote for Bernie in New York. My question to them, why if you believe in Sanders and his message are you registered as Republican?

Still has that lawsuit open on the DNC though right?

Will he be a Democrat now? He still puts an (I) after his name on his Senate website.

I sincerely hope that’s the case. Scorched earth didn’t look good on HRC in '08 when McCain was on the other side, and it would look far, far worse on Sanders when he’s facing a much bigger delegate deficit and the country’s facing the prospect of a Trump presidency. I’ll reserve judgment and hold out hope.

Exactly.

Regarding Superdelegates…

By Electoral votes In each state won by a candidate…Clinton 271…Sanders 106…

Is that why he filed for re-election for his Senate seat as an independent? This is yet another desperate move by Sanders in his ploy to win over super delegates. I am sure Weaver (somehow I don’t see Devine’s fingerprints on this one) thinks or has convinced himself and Sanders that the Democratic Party will embrace him if he remains a Democrat. Does he really believe that after trashing the Party - and by implication every politician who is a Democrat - he will be welcomed into the fold.
And isn’t this going to infuriate his supporters who have also engaged in denouncing the DNC as crooked, evil, establishment and well go to the trash bin and pull out the trash they and Sanders have been hurling at HRC and her supporters during this campaign.

When the audience leaves and the spotlights dim, will Senator Sanders do the hard tedious work of the Democratic Party — organizing local elections, encouraging party officials, endless small events. All this is done quietly, in the background. And it is done for the Party, not for an individual. We must put our welcome mat out for the Senator. We shall see.

At this rate he can’t drop out since he made so many statements about letting everyone vote, but he needs to stop attacking Dems and go back to talking about issues and slamming trump. Then after DC (last primary) votes then he needs to concede before the convention.
