I want to announce it appears that I also won’t be the nominee.
Well his statement certainly lacked any enthusiasm about helping Hillary get elected. And “it doesn’t appear that I’m going to be the nominee” is certainly extreme parsing of words but it is typically Bernie when he really, really doesn’t want to admit something. Baby steps. Next step, some faint sign of enthusiasm for the candidate who did win the nomination. I’m not sure we will ever get that.
I just want to acknowledge how sad it is that Trump is out of $$$. Without paid trolls, we have to create our own “snark trolls” (cap locks and all).
If more people had handed over their retirement accounts to Trump University we might not have to face the unpleasing reality of an indigent trump.
That’s what I really don’t get. Admitting that you tried and didn’t get something that is MORE than apparent to everyone shouldn’t be embarrassing. To borrow a phrase from the kiddies “just take the L”
Bernie … who?
You were never as big a deal as you thought you were, and now you’re stubbornly standing there like the black night in Monty Python calling it a flesh wound and let’s say it’s a draw. But we’re moving on with or without you. You have two choices, catch up and help out … or don’t, sit there and fade into irrelevance.
Though I think unfortunately we’re still going to be hearing clips from your speeches all summer/fall in the Dumb One’s attack ads.
His eventual “endorsement” will be grudging at best, but about 6 months after the elections he will claim he was enthusiastically onboard with Hillary the whole time. Its the pattern he follows.
More breaking headlines, Bernie!:
“Archduke Ferdinand Assassinated!”
“Fairbanks/Pickford Divorce Rocks Nation!”
“German Guy With Moustache Gains Power!”
“Generalissimo Francisco Franco STILL Dead!”
“This guy must not become president of the United States and I’m going to do everything I can to prevent that, but I don’t think the people who would be voting for me would vote for him,” Sanders told C-SPAN.
Au contraire, mon petit chou. http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-06-22/nearly-half-of-sanders-supporters-won-t-support-clinton
And THIS is why it was smart to give Sanders the time to come around on his own. He’s giving up his only shot at the presidency, given his age, and both turning over his campaign resources, as well as becoming a full throated surrogate for Clinton.
If he wants to use his leverage to slide a few progressive planks into the Democratic platform, I’m completely in support of that.
Now, can we please stop bashing both Bernie and his supporters?
House Dems are staging a sit-in for gun control. Where in the fuck are YOU, Bernie? What in the fuck are YOU doing to help the country and the party? Where was YOUR criticism of Trump’s disaster of a speech when he was doing nothing but throwing lies at Clinton?
Fuck you, Bernie.
No, I won’t stop bashing that selfish, egotistical motherfucker, especially after Donald Trump invokes his name in a tirade against Clinton. Fuck Bernie Sanders - and the Sarandon he rode in on!
In the case of Dewey v. Truman, it was close.
Yeah, well I’m not going to be the nominee either, Bernie, but I’m going to make damn sure I work my ass off to get the ACTUAL Democratic nominee elected - you know, that woman who darcy says is going to be indicted ANY FUCKING MINUTE NOW!
He is??
The Revolution cannot fail, comrade. It can only be betrayed.
Over at the NYT, tons of Sandernista letters on how the writer is going to join the expected massive protests against Hillary at the convention. Not a good idea.
The take-home: Sanders really doesn’t want to be Chair of Senate Budget.
Damn, can’t get nothing past this motherfucker, he’s sharp as a Q-Tip!
It didn’t look all that rosy 8 years ago. Note that the poll of democrats was taken one week after HRC gave her hearty endorsement to Obama. The fears that HRC supporters wouldn’t vote for Obama did not actually happen in November 2008.
Truman beat Dewey by 4.5%, and the electoral college totals were 303 (Truman)–189 (Dewey)–39 (Thurmond, running on the Dixiecrat ticket).
It wasn’t that close.
