If you are a Republican, you put debt above everything except tax cuts for the rich and searching for wars. Trump just being RepublicanâŚSessions, McConnell, Ryan, and the rest of them will always choose the debt issue over âcommon people in trouble and needing helpâ.
Paul RyanâŚthe boy that was saved by social security disability benefits as a young kid when his dad died - fast forward to adulthood and now Paul Ryan supports cutting those very programs. All it takes is being immoralâŚand that is a key characteristic to being Republican.
Correction: human beings who are not psyhopaths usually do put people above debt.
Also: the billions they owe wall street?!? Did he really say that? Did he really just cast wall street as the sympathetic party against a disaster struck area? After every fucking news organization assured me that trump had some common-touch populism going on?! After we heard for months that some speeches made Hillary unacceptably in Wall streetâs pocket? I just cannot stomach this gut wrenching nauseating hypocrisy. But Iâm sure heâll do something âpresidentialâ tomorrow and we can forget all about this.
This coming from a guy who declared bankruptcy at least 4 times and screwed banks and investors out of $100s of millions of dollars of unpaid debt he accrued.
Truly priceless!.
trump was just on TV talking about PRâŚand said âTHOSE people are very important to all of us.â OkayâŚI put the emphasis on âthose.â But that really sums up his attitude. He doesnât consider them Americans. They are âthose.â
ButâŚheyâŚhe thinks heâs winning on the NFL front.
HellâŚMary!
Yep - I knew this would come out eventually. The reason for the slow walking of aid. Mind you, this wasnât an issue for TX or FL. Just PR.
Iâve heard that many residents are fleeing the island for the mainland. Hopefully, the Dems will gain lots more voters.
EDIT TO ADD: @left_in_washington_state The GOP only thinks of Puerto Ricans as some sort of colonized immigrants we allow nominal citizenship to.
San Juan Mayor Responds To Trump: âYou Donât Put Debt Above Peopleâ
Predicted Trump Response:
â⌠but these are not âpeopleâ - these are just Puerto Ricians - and that place ainât even a state - the Russians tell me it was not even worth hackingâ
I confess, I didnât expect the greatest humanitarian crisis of Trumpâs presidency would actually happen to American citizens.
Very sick of the winning.
Yeah. Texas and Fla are doing great. We take care of our own. Not. What a bone head.
And avoided his obligation to serve his country. And screwed New Jersey out of tens of millions of dollars owed in taxes. Not to mention his weaseling out of US taxes by using the debts he never pays as offsets.
He is incapable of empathy. Symptom of Sociopathic Personality Disorder.
- most basic GOP members - if you could peal open their brains - would reveal that they do not believe that the citizenship of a Puerto Rican is really legitimate - and they definitely believe that there are - or certainly should be immigration controls on Puerto Ricans traveling to the 50 states. Some would be shocked & outraged to know that a Puerto Rican can simply get in a plane and fly to Miami or New York or Chicago without some sort of formal approval or certificate.
Right to Work states like Texas and Florida boast low corporate taxes and no state income taxes. But when disaster strikes suddenly they become flaming socialists who deserve billions from the US Treasury and taxpayers.
Thereâs an easy way to fix your confusion. Any time the media refers to Trumpâs âpopulism,â just replace that word with âwhite supremacy.â All the pieces will click into place.
Last week we werenât supposed to talk about climate change because it would politicize a disaster. This week Trump is using the disaster to talk about PR debt. Maybe we still arenât supposed to talk about how Donald is blackballed from western banks and needs to use Russian money.
Pathetic. Trump is an embarrassment every single day.
Trump claims food, water and medical are âdoing wellâ
Why am I reminded of âheck of a job, Brownieâ
This is the PERFECT time to rebuild PRs aging infrastructure. Itâs broken, itâs kept them downâŚprogress starts NOW.
Puerto Ricans are brown, right? And they talk funny. SoâŚwhy do they expect real Americans to help them?
âWith all due respect, these are two different topics,â she said on CNNâs âNew Dayâ Tuesday morning. âOne topic is the massive debt, which we know we have and itâs been dealt with. But you donât put debt above people, you put people above debt. So, what we are asking for and what â what Iâm asking for, and this is my comment, nobody elseâs comment â is letâs deal with the two issues in a separate way.â
Actually, they are related, and the mayor should make every effort to tie the two together. First, Hurricane Goldman destroyed the Puerto Rican economy, aided and abetted by Democrats who helped pass PROMESA and President Obama who signed it into law, and then Hurricane Maria destroyed the rest. What Puerto Rico needs is:
First - Immediate physical aid, no strings attached.
Second - A cancellation of all debts, with Goldman and the other lenders who perpetrated the fraud on Puerto Rico told, âHey, thatâs how the Free Market Cookie crumbles, assholes!â
Third - The equivalent of a Marshall Plan to rebuild the island.
