Discussion: San Francisco Cops' Racist Texts Prompts Review Of 3,000 Arrests

Discussion for article #236155

And this is just 14 officers. Could we ask the NSA to go over the other million or so – all told the threat to national security is probably greater than any overseas plot. (Only sorta kidding)

A review is all well and good, however, these tendencies need to be screened upon application, not in retrospect.

It appears that police departments all across the US are in need of re-training, starting from the top down

The public doesn’t trust the police. They are an occupying paramilitary force.

I’m not surprised that this kind of racist crap is now being discovered all across the country in police departments large and small. It also wasn’t long ago that the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division was systematically gutted, subverted and rendered basically toothless (on purpose) when W was in office. its taken most of the Obama administration to insure its brought back to life.

One of the purposes that this sorely needed division exists in the Justice Dept. is that they are always in the background, at the ready, with the real possibility of getting involved in these types of cases where police and judicial abuse becomes a serious miscarriage of justice. They are the real cops on the beat when local police departments refuse to police their own and judges fail to uphold their oath.

I hope this SF investigation gets it right and removes these offensive and probably corrupt cops, but if not…and they whitewash it as many have, there’s always the DoJ. At least its back from the brink when Dubya was President. But wow, do they have their work cut out for them after years of local neglect.

Even if you don’t think this is a big deal, how can a police officer caught up in this ever be effective at his job? We had a guy in Boston the compared President Obama to a monkey. If your a lawyer and your client has a as much as a tan you will bring this up to a jury. There are only so many desk jobs … the ones you can’t outright fire send to the whitest of the white suburbs … either that or Paul Blart might be hiring.

You have seen that IRS agents have been cut. Who does that help? Well poor people don’t pay taxes. So it must help rich people. Who donates to elected people? You got it!

The full expense for this investigation and resulting lawsuits should come from these cops own funds if proven against them.

Cop is a great profession for a racist if you think about it. They get the authority to exercise their hate and get paid for it, then they get awesome representation when caught.
