Discussion for article #239355
Texas is toxic to young minds.
America has captured the market on bigotry. More bigots per capita in the USA than in any other nation in the world, far surpassing Germany in the early 1940’s.
San Antonio once was a wonderful city. But, of course, it’s in Texas, where hate and guns and racism and ethnic struggles have been going on since the beginning of the USA and Mexico, if not a for two or three hundred years before.
Kudo’s to Christians and Jews that unite to fight bigotry in any form, and they should. Were there members of the Islamic faith in that video? I missed that.
Bottom line, this atrocity in symbolism was probably a couple of teenagers with a can of spray paint, but we may never know.
Yes, this was most likely a couple of dumb teenagers, but don’t let that stop you from over-generalizing about millions of people who didn’t do anything wrong. And in reality, San Antonio is still a wonderful city, despite your attempts to smear it based upon actions that a small minority of racists do across the country. If this happened in New York or Ohio, would you still feel smug in insulting the members of those states, or just Texas?
And for the record, I suspect that America had far more bigots per capita in the early 1940’s than it does now, while your claim that we have more bigots than Nazi Germany is entirely stupid. Why people insist upon inserting absurd hyperbole into serious issues is beyond me. You’re not helping.
Most likely the work of people who would identify as Tea Party patriots and supporters of the GOP.
You know the GOP those staunch supporters of the state of Israel.
Some one please tell…what beef do these assholes have with Jews? They are all employed, very few on welfare, and aside from Sammy Davis Jr. they are all white. So what the fuck? Can you hurt a Jew more than to paint a swastika on his home? What is the basis for such fanatical hate?
Most likely true, but they didn’t get the idea out of a cloudless sky, and they didn’t slink away in silence after the deed, ashamed of their behavior. The idea came from the same friends and family members to whom these likely teenagers later reported their brave defense of White Christian America. It’s a cycle of hatred you will find all over this country, and I guarantee you the families that produced these idiot children are all card-carrying Republicans.
But you must admit, San Antonio is slightly less wonderful today.
Uhm…yeah. You could remove them from their homes, imprison them in concentration camps, and kill them in gas chambers. Not to make light of this since vandalism is always bad, particularly when it’s racist vandalism; but let’s not get carried away here. This wasn’t the Klan busting into homes in the dead of night and hanging people from trees. This was a couple of morons who had access to spraypaint, not the next Holocaust. You shouldn’t give more power to these fools than they already have. Most likely, it was just dumb teenagers who listen to the wrong people, and who still have the potential to grow out of this.
To be fair, they don’t really care if they live or die, as long as they’re there long enough to spark that big fight.
Completely disagree. San Antonio didn’t do this. Morons who don’t represent San Antonio did it. This doesn’t reflect on the city whatever. It’d be one thing if this was a continuing issue across the city, but it was obviously an isolated incident. No reason to blame anyone besides the ones who did it. Guilt by association doesn’t work on a citywide level.
I am the son of a Holocaust Survivor.I want to do things to these people which I can not write here.Suffice it to say I do not take any krap from any person (s) who use anti-semitic krap on me.I am very very angry right now.
These aren’t people that make sense.
The people who are most pro-Holocaust are the ones who deny it ever happened.
Explain that one.
Auschwitz is not in San Antonio. Lets keep it real guy. I grew up in 1950’s Europe. I know a bit about that crap. The Holocaust is not there for your taking. It’s not a prop or a “go to” in a debate. Leave it alone.
Off topic here but I just saw news that Jimmy Carter has announced he has cancer in several places in his body. He is 90 years old.
Hang in there Jimmy
You’re right. How could someone possibly go from “Can you hurt a Jew more than to paint a swastika on his home?” to the Holocaust? That’s like a completely illogical leap to take. Totally.
Way out of left field. Completely inconceivable.
I hate to hear that.
Jimmy Carter is a national treasure and a role model for decent behavior and the right kind of social activism.
What are you talking about? I’m not comparing this to the Holocaust. I was responding to someone who asked how you could hurt a Jew more than painting a swastika on their house, and I was pointing out that far worse things have been done.
I’m really thinking you went out of your way to misunderstand what I wrote, since I wasn’t attempting to use the Holocaust as a prop. Instead, I was trying to keep things real but putting this in perspective. This was most likely just a couple of dumb teenagers and not an atrocity. That was my point.
Even though I have no such direct link to said event, I stand with you, and share your sentiment —
Peace
I’m guessing some kids with that viewpoint, this is very sophomoric vandalism with a hate message. Hopefully they are old enough to face a hate crime prosecution, or the threat of it to at least put a scare into them. A better idea might be to have them spend a day at the center with all the people so they can find out they are…people, they may just be brainwashed by kkk types, etc.
