Discussion: Sam Brownback 'Choked Up' During Kansas Budget Negotiations

Discussion for article #237404

I know it reflects poorly on me, but I would prefer that the headline read ā€œSam Brownback chokedā€ during budget negotiations. He hasnā€™t cared about the working man, or education, or medical assistance or anything that would improve the plight of Kansans, so there is certainly no empathy for his situation.

It is going to take a long time for the state of Kansas to recover from Brownback but they reelected him so the public has no one to blame but themselves.

You would choke too if you had a big KOCH rammed down your throat like Brownback.

What an idiot. His extremism has destroyed his stateā€™s infrastructure and its economy, and now heā€™s feeling emotional because he has to cut EVERYTHING. On the other hand, he could wake up and realize that his economic theory is wrong and take corrective action. Are we supposed to feel for him in some way because he had a feeling? He could have had a feeling when he was ruining the schools or cutting welfare or ā€¦you name it. Heā€™s a classic narcissistic opportunist and a wannabe one per center. Canā€™t believe Kansas reelected him.

I still wonder if Obama did the country any favors when he plucked the popular Dem govs of Arizona and Kansas for his administration. Total nut jobs took over. Maybe he should have gone after some talent from some safer states for Dems.

I swear, when I read the headline the first time I thought it read. ā€œSam Brownback ā€˜Coked Upā€™ During Kansas Budget Negotiations.ā€

Yeah, me too. It was a big letdown when I read it a second time. For an instant I thought it just might be the thing to get him out of office and into prison.

So long as no one offered to do the Heimlich Maneuver.

Thatā€™s where they lose any sympathy from the rest of us. They had their chance and for a moment it looked like they were going to go with the Independent. But no. So phuckā€™em

One might have said that about America after we elected GWB a second time.

Budget hell visits the citizens of Kansas. Couldnā€™t happen to a more appropriate group of people. You get the representation you deserve.

I thought it was the pretzels.

Failed state, along with LA. WI may be right behind them but WI economic fundamentals are a little more resilient.

Should be said and should be said every time we think about electing any Republican these days.

Schools donā€™t need much money. What can it cost to teach everyone that Jesus rode a dinosaur, the Earth is 6000 years old and the basic steps of bagging take-out hamburgers?

Quick, someone grab the Vicks Vapor Rub from out of the poor manā€™s hands before he actually hurts someone, other than through his political actions.

Somehow I have a small bit of trouble believing this ass hat feels anything akin to human compassion.

Soā€¦you drowned the govā€™t in the bathtub, and now youā€™re all upset thatā€¦GASPā€¦people are suffering because of it.

Asshole.

There is a pretty simple private-sector solution here ā€” Gov. B should ask the Koch Bros. to write a check for $400M. Problem solved for another year. As the Kochs are worth about $100B together, this solution could work for at least 200 years. That might be long enough to prove that tax cuts solves all problems except for one. (The arithmetic one.)

A lot of people did.

I really hate constantly seeing the sentiment that ā€œweā€ Kansans brought this on ourselves. a) there are plenty of people that didnā€™t vote for him (he got less than 50% of the vote), or anyone else in his administration and b) those effected by his education policies couldnā€™t have done anything about it, even if they wanted/havenā€™t been brain-washed by their families, as theyā€™re still in the K-12 school program.
Go check out the #ksleg tag on twitter to see how much rancor there is for Brownback, his tax policy, and this budget specifically.
