Discussion: S.C. Sen. Goes Off On Gay Marriage During Confederate Flag Debate (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #238173

And this is why the flag of traitors should be taken down- a man railed against the Constitution, the Founding Fathers (who did not found a Christian Nation), and the very core of our government because he has been taught that the Confederacy was right and the Founders, the Constitution and the rest of America were wrong.

Was reading Digby the other day and she had a pile of quotes by the founding fathers that made it crystal clear they did not want a “Christian Nation”.

Try explaining that to these brain dead morons though.

Buh-BYE, you fat bigot.

And then, to emphasize his point, he took the sword down from the wall behind the podium and committed seppuku on the Senate floor.

Bright said he was worried that officials will now have to compromise their faith to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

Excuse me Sen Bright, but issuing a marriage license does nothing except certify that a couple meet the legal requirements to get married. County clerks and/or other government officials are paid by taxpayers to issue these licenses to legally qualified couples, which gay and lesbian couples now are. If such officials cannot do their jobs because of their religious beliefs, then they need to find another job. Otherwise, if they refuse to perform their lawful duties, they should be fired.

“men in black robes who were not elected by you,”

Like the rest of them, Jethro apparently insists on reminding us how brilliant the founding fathers were to insulate the judicial branch from political influence.

As far as the “men in black robes who were not elected by you,” I’m sure he didn’t have the same reaction to the Hobby Lobby decision.
And it’s probably just an oversight that he neglected to mention the three women in black robes.

Lee Bright aka Not Bright aka Big Dummy

Thomas Jefferson worked very hard and successfully to totally keep ALL religious considerations out of the Constitution (other than freedom from) as he foresaw the bad deeds that England wrought on its citizens by its state church on behalf of the entitled class.

BTW; Just received a purchased copy of the Smithsonian’s Jefferson Bible reproduction and enjoying that history. Another aside: I lived in Spartanburg County by employer relocation and escaped back to Ohio after retirement.

Fiery speech, Senator. Now, could you look inside your desk and see if there is anybody hiding in there who gives a fuck?
